Our daughter was born on March 11th by a scheduled c-section, which was 3 days after the due date. Around the 28th week we went for one of our check-ups and the Doctor said she thought the head was measuring small. We come back 2 weeks later for our next appointment and she remarks that the head still looks a little small but better than the time before. So the wife is completely stressing out that our baby is going to have all kinds of problems

Our next appointment has to be at the hospital because that is were we will be having the baby and that is were our son was born via an emergency c-section after a long unsuccessful labor. During the ultra-sound he notes that he thinks the head looks fine but that her body is to small and that overall she is just to small. He wants to see us next week and if she is not growing enough then we may have to consider an early c-section. We go back to the hospital every week ( 6weeks )for an ultra-sound and each time are told well she is small but growing come back next week, if there isnt enough progress then we must schedule a c-section.

Due date comes and goes ultra-sounds says that the baby is healthy but still looks very small in the belly area. We agree to set it up on the 11th. Go in at the 7am and our daughter is born at 8:23am weighing in at a startling 3.262Kg (7lb) with a 100% clean bill of health. Funny thing is she weighed over 100grams more then our son and they were not concerned about his weight at all. She is home and breastfeeding like a champ and already outgrowing her brothers newborn clothes. So it was basically 10 weeks of dealing with a crazy, paranoid, and pregnant wife, stress of having a 2 year old and constant doctor appointments. It makes me wonder if they just need to fill up the appointments or something....

Wife's going in today to talk about the small head with the doctor.

Had a baby shower yesterday. Wasn't really expecting much but I was absolutely blown away by the generosity of people. We put a lot of expensive things because anything people didn't buy we got a discount on. We got over $3000 worth of stuff and the only items we don't have are some baby monitors and a little bit of clothes. One friend we hadn't seen in years and we aren't even close to bought my wife a $350 stroller she wanted. Couldn't even believe it.

Putting this other shit together sucks.

Fyi, get a dropcam for a baby monitor. It's the single best child-related item we have ever bought. We can check on the kid from any computer, phone, or tablet. And who doesn't already have their phone next to their bed, charging at night? Might as well use it for a monitor.

Yeah that's what we were planning on getting. I was surprised at the technology when we went and looked, probably because the last time I looked at a baby monitor was when my sister was born 22 years ago. We got enough in Babies R Us gift cards that we could get anything we wanted really.

And we plan on keeping the dropcam in the kids room even as he gets older, we currently have it mounted about 6 feet up on a wall in the corner(it comes with wall-mounting kit), can see the entire room + bed. Easy enough to load up the app real quick to check on him while he's playing in his room if you haven't heard anything in a while. Silence always scares me, lol

And before anyone gets up in arms about the bumper pads on his crib, we didn't put those on until he was about 18 months old and kept getting his foot stuck in the rungs when shuffling around at night and waking up screaming because he was stuck. Well past the whole SIDS-scare timeframe.

I use aFOScamas my baby monitor. Pretty much does everything a Dropcam can do for a fraction of the price. Does take a little bit of computer know-how to get everything set up and working.

Regarding having a 2 year old and a newborn. My boys are 18 months apart. A friend asked me if having two kids (under 2 years of age) both in diapers is twice the work, I replied "it is not twice the work, it is quadruple!" Enjoy it though, it goes by so fast!

@joeboo-There is a heavy lack of Black and Gold in your kids room, I am disappoint.

Yeah, my wife wasn't keen on black & gold as nursery colors. Damn women. But I'm definitely smarter than to pick a fight with a (at the time) pregnant woman

Doctor said nothing wrong with my baby having a small head since everything else measured at 33 weeks (head at 31). Would be more concerned if this was early on.

6 weeks to go. /pantshit

Our son is "house trained" where he can be at home with just underwear or often no pants at all on. I actually told my wife that I didn't want to stop doing diapers then go back to having to do them again. However, he is starting to act out a little more now that his sister his here and has regressed with the potty training. Last week was a nightmare for accidents with him but this week he seems to be back on track. Once the wife is healed and can spend more time with him I am sure that will also help.

When my wife was prego with our oldest (now 5.5) we had a similar experience. The Tech made a comment that something about our kids hands and feet did not look normal, possible extra digits. It was one of those times in my life were I felt like I said the prefect thing to my wife "Honey everything will be okay, if this is the greatest injustice he endures in his life then he will live an amazing life."

My son was born with polydactyly and syndactyly (12 fingers, 12 toes and webbing). It ended up being minor in the scheme of things but we did have to travel to Los Angeles for surgery because Doctors in Vegas saw cases like this maybe 2-5 times a year where as in Los Angeles our Doctor performed this surgery 5 times in a week.

Tell your wife to look at the bright side, small head means easier child birth. Assuming she was okay with jokes, if you think it will make her cry then don't say it. I hope it all turns out okay bud, just remember those numbers the techs gave you are averages and not every is the same in or out of the womb.
I found this pic today. This is my son at 10 months old right after all the surgery.

Wife's last day at work was last thursday. Now she's using up the hours of overtime + the remaining holiday leave (they have to use up everything before going on leave). Finds new shit for me to do every day. Hey that's cool, I just got home from work, sure I want to move the big kid's bed & cupboard into the unborn kid's room so I can then turn around and assemble the big kid's new bed and stuff.

I usually smile and do as I'm told. No use in arguing with a pregnant woman.

9-10 weeks to go. This will be hell.

Yeah wife always has some task for me to do in regards to putting shit together, moving shit, or whatever. I usually do it.

It's frustrating because I get home and I cook, then she wants to do an hour walk with the dog and some weights (DONT ASK I HAVE LOST THIS BATTLE), then put together stuff, and clean up.. I'm exhausted every single day and falling asleep by 11:00. Absolutely 0% free time, she is literally killing me right now. We only have 4 weeks so I know it will get better.. just trying not to rage on her before then.

The other day I got frustrated because she kept wanting to put together/setup one area of the nursery every day. I was pissed because we had so many boxes of stuff in our house so I just tore through everything and finished everything in one day. The recycling pickup guys gonna hate me this week

I can live with no free time, it's the physically exhausting shit after working 10 hours a day. She wants to workout 7 days a week and I have to force her to not workout every few days. It's like that episode of full house where DJ thinks she's fat so she stops eating and goes ape-shit in the gym until she passes out. I even made my wife watch that episode.

I mean on the plus side my wife is still skinny but has the giant baby bump. It's like when you see those models get pregnant and they gained 0% body fat minute the baby.
