The fact they were back at camp says to me they were the least capable people or they were just there to process the hides/skins, not to hunt. An expedition of that size needs logistical support

I thought it was just OK, better than The Predator but not by much. I think they should have cast a real Native American as the lead, I never bought that she was a real Indian. They also should have leaned more on practical effects, the cgi looked average at best. My other complaint is the scale of the fight scenes seemed to shift with no real rhyme or reason, one scene they are tied up to a tree with no one around and the next the predator is killing 10+ people with no set up to how they got there.

Don't know if it's dumber that you're complaining it wasn't woke enough, or that you don't buy a native American as a native American.

To me she didn't look or act like the rest of the native cast, i'm surprised she actually is native american. And you're right, wanting authenticity means I want a main character with blue hair in 1700.

Movie ranks forth for me after rewatching. I don't think any of the AvP should be cannon

Would of made more sense if he bitched about Comanche being portrayed as northern plains tribe.

I think she’s like 1/4 Native American. But she’s basically a mutt.

watch the end credits, there is a drawing (done in indian art pictorial style) of the indian village being surrounded by predator ships.

the likely scenario is that they came to retrieve their fallen comrades corpse, gave a weapon or shield or something to Naru as tribute for her warrior skills, and she gave them the pistol in exchange. It is the exact same pistol, people have screenshotted the inscription on the handle and its the same as in Predator 2.

Alternatively they wiped out the village for killing one of their young and took the pistol. That doesn't really jibe with the way they exchanged weapons with Glover though, so I think the first interpretation is correct.

I really wish they'd have had one final after-credits scene showing what happened. Would have been a great scene and this wasn't a movie that needed ambiguity or sequel-hinting at the end.

Know what sci-fi movie I wish would get a sequel? Life. That one ended on a cliffhanger but it actually made me want to see what'd happen next. Then...nothing.

This. Overall, this was a good movie. Did not really get a big woke vibe off of it at all. Most of the bitching can be chalked up to this being probably from the looks of things a first time lesser teched out Predator, which is how you could probably explain his heat vision being inferior to the 20th century Preds we saw in older movies, among a few other things. Pretty well paced and decent action. Characters generally made intelligent and believable choices and deductions in the movie. Brother character was probably the most awesome part of the movie, aside from the trappers getting destroyed. Just like the original (and the Adrian Brody one), the character used their brains and agility to overcome the obstacle. Was pleasantly surprised by this, having finally seen it this weekend.

That's a positive for them.

Make people wonder/debate what really happened while spending very little money and keeping it so open ended that they can turn it into whatever they want if they ever need to.

two Predator movies are in production

Prey 2 - same lead, time
Badlands - ?? now starring Elle Fanning

just a bunch of girls fighting predators, nothing learned from furiosa

Throw them into theaters and I'll happily not watch them too. LFG

I just watched Prey a few months ago and thought it was great for a streaming movie. My question is why go back to the same formula with the same lead actress? They could make a great Alien 2 style movie where it is the whole tribe fighting a group of predators and trying to figure out ways to take them down like they would a buffalo or other big prey. They could even bring other tribes in as the hostile 3rd party but then show them incorporating other tracking/hunting styles while working together to bring down a larger threat. I'd probably even go watch that in a movie theater. However, my money is on the expanded girl boss role where we see the tribe now lets all the women become some special group of hunters that also are great at medicine and everything else. They will use the males a cannon fodder and have each female kill one of the predators in some 10000 IQ way.

Woke as it is, it is a great, fun movie. Premise is fresh, despite the intellectual property being stale. The film is well-paced and near perfect for what it is. It is no easy task these days to make the "Thelma and Louise" and "Dirty Harry" crowd happy in a single movie (let alone a single multiplex!).

This film does it. Name a few others that can make that claim.

i liked prey but to me its a one time watch, if i am gonna rewatch any of these movies I'd just rewatch predator, predator 2, the one with fat lawrence fishburne, and then maybe watch A v P 1 & 2 for the first time over rewatching this. worked great as a straight to VOD (hulu) movie, but of course these dumbasses will think people will go to theaters to see any more starring girl bosses and no one will.

the bear scenes were very cool, thats honestly all I remember

2025 will see the release of Predator: Badlands (as well as another film in the franchise that he shot simultaneously in secret), which isn’t exactly a follow-up to Prey but a future-set tale taking place on an alien planet. And, most importantly, it brings a very different kind of Predator protagonist: the Predator itself.

“The creature is front and centre, leading the charge,” Trachtenberg grins, speaking to Empire in the Andor Season 2 issue. “He’s still badass, but there’s something there that touches you emotionally, too. Creating a character you connect with, but are also super-intimidated by, has been challenging. But exciting.” The idea, he says, came from a desire to “find another essential piece of cinema that does what Prey did spiritually — pushing the franchise’s boundaries, letting us root for a hero we rarely get to root for — but in a different way. And that transformed into this big idea of rooting for the Predator.” Finally, the ugly mother-effer’s day has come.

While audiences will be asked to empathise with Badlands’ dreadlocked hunter, there will be humans in the mix too – notably Elle Fanning, who will play more than one character. “She faced intense challenges on this movie — dramatically, physically, logistically,” Trachtenberg teases. A Predator lead and multiple Elle Fannings? Get us to the chopper, asap!

sounds kinda interesting but probably won't be great
