UO was 2d, eq was 3d, everyone wanted to play 3d. it was 1998-99. quake 2 was big. EQ was 3d and online, just like quake but an rpg. Imbalance, no one knew how to play, they were worrying about killing this 3d rat for 6c. People didn't understand there own class, let alone how it compared to anyone else. When I bought the game, which was played online, I was led to believe that pvp was playing with people online, and pve was playing against the computer solo. I played till lvl 8 getting killed numerous times by people, not understanding what pvp meant. It was at 8 that someone playing explained it, and i switched servers to innoruuk. It was months before i learned about the screenshot function, and started taking screenshots. No one knew jack shit back then, we didn't know that the drop rate was low, we didn't know that they were gonna add stuff and change stuff, games didn't do that back then, they were released, and big updates happened 2-3 times in the games life. EQ was changing weekly, mostly bug fixes, but also content additions, quest additions, class changes. Just read the patch noted to see how much the game was changing. None of that is true anymore. p99 is trying hard to recreate the original eq, but that's really hard to do on a newer client that has all those bugs and glitches removed, QoL stuff added, and 1st person getting switched to 3rd person. So we get this, a project 10 years in the making, and it's awesome.
