Necro reply but it was interesting learning about EQ Mac on the dramaquest episode. Had no idea an official server existed for years that was basically frozen in time.

Plenty online in that range (13 to 37) at 10:31pm ET, with a large concentration in the staple zones - mistmoore, kurns, unrest, etc, but also some in say, East Karana and such, too.
A fairly healthy mix of players.

Has anyone experienced interaction with scam guilds on PQ? Or have a list of them?
I was trying the game out and joined some guilds. There was a lot of weird harassment, cyberbullying (lol yeah really), and apparently gathering real life information about people for either extortion, harassment, or other exploitation.
So... yeah. I am just wondering maybe somebody else has experienced this. Do the emulators do something that let people track you down? PQ pops up as malware in a lot of ways.

This happens to me all the time. I’ve been attacked and tracked down multiple times. I used to try to fight them, but imo it’s best now just to pay whatever they’re asking so they’ll leave you alone.

Yup. I have a black van that parks outside my house 4 days a week. It’s not coincidence this started a week after joining my PQ guild.

Im enjoying it going solo on my barb shaman at level 17. High quality bear skins go for 50pp each and I have sold 9 so far. Items are cheap too so your platinum goes farther.

Yeah still averaging in the 800-1100 range per night. Server right now feels well populated.
I will say Quarm appears to have an identity crisis currently. Many people became used to the increased spawn rates and drop rates of Kunark (dragons on 3 day timers, with VP having original and revamped loot, Trak dropping 10 teeth, the most poopsocky camps turned 100% drop rates with a 30 day lock out, etc.) which allowed people to play and raid pretty casually and still obtain great shit. It was the ultimate “I’m 38 with a family and career” server that still allowed really meaningful progress.
Velious has more or less traditional timers and drop rates but adds leashing which forces trash clears and a 3-4 hour Luclin era ring event for Vulak that 90% of guilds won’t be able to complete and the staff stance appears to be “only the best/jobless should get the best loot”.
The smaller guild I’m in is having conversations about just skipping most of TOV, which has quite a few people asking what the point is then? Quarms magic was things were accessible and obtainable for folks that could only raid 4-8 hours a week.
Granted a lot of these issues stem from the volume of content in Velious, but the time invested vs reward received is significantly more time for significantly less reward than it was in Kunark.
Not that any of this is wrong, really, but just sharing as many folks started up on Quarm due to the accelerated leveling and loot it offered in the previous expansion, and that is no longer the case for Velious.

I really like Quarm for what it is. Also i can't play EQ without Zeal Releases · iamclint/Zeal it adds so many good QOL, like a near perfect 3rd person camera and proper FoV slider. This is unmatch so far, maybe the guy behind this project will works on The Heroes Journey box.
Mac client helps a lot, zoning is almost seamless for example, game run fast and sync well even on high refresh rate monitor. In the end Quarm is exceptional in terms of software, standing out significantly when compared to other emu servers based on different engines.
Also like it or not, Quarm devs are active and generally attentive to the majority of feedback.
My only issue right now is that they shouldn't add to much QOL too fast, or ppl will be bored if it doesn't feel "eq" anymore.
