I got a Persephone and wife got a Hades out of the REM last night. The other rolls were mystic knight junk.
I've asked before, but is there any sort of *logical* progress to this game? I've been playing for 34 days, yet feel no more powerful than I did before. Sure, I've unlocked a few technical dungeons, I'm almost through Tower of the Saint-Deep(just need to level my ogre a bit), but almost anything master level kicks the holy hell out of me. There are a *few* expert stages I can do, but I've still yet to complete any descended dungeon. I've checked the PAD forums, looked at the "recommended" teams on PADX, yet they almost all suggest monsters which drop out of descends. How in the fuck do you complete a descend, if you're unable to get those monsters?
I just don't get the logical point A, to B, to C, of this game. It seems to play as one giant, disjointed mess.
I had a similar problem starting out. It's definitely overwhelming at first, especially reading the forums if you jump into a discussion geared towards people who've been playing since the game was released in the US.
The main thing is having a good leader, especially one that you can build a team around using only farmable monsters. I use Haku, and even with shitty subs all I need is a second Haku from a friend and I can beat any Expert I've tried (except Weekend tri-color of course--I use AB Bluebird lead with Isis/Bastet friend for that) with relative ease. Even if I had the worst luck imaginable at the REM I could still build a great team for her--Hera, Hera-Is, Siegfried, Echidna, Duke Vampire, CDK, FKK, etc. are all farmable. Who is your primary leader?
Like Df~ said, Hera should be your first descend. I'm waiting for her to come around again this month and I expect to be able to win without much trouble at all. I'll be using Blue Ogre (Lv.2) / AB Bluebird / EoS Echidna and either a pair of Harpy Demons or Thunder Chimeras, depending on what I have available by then, along with Aogo's Amaterasu. You've been playing longer than me, so hopefully you also have an AB Blue available for poison duty.
After that I'm not sure what I can beat (hopefully Two Heroes) but to make it easier I intend to drop at least 40 stones on the player's choice godfest and hope I get some of the subs I need (another Haku, and either Hades or Yomi) as well as something to make a second team with for dungeons that aren't really suited to Haku's style (Lucifer/Dtron/one of the Odins). I'm pretty disappointed that Loki isn't going to make the cut for the godfest though.
Right now there's only 8 out of the 15 I would actually want; the others are mostly good gods, but I have no interest in working on a team for another spike leader when I already have Haku.
I'd also suggest watching some of
Zydoran's videos. Quite a few of them are for newer players who only use a REM leader and farmable trash. He also made me realize that I was terrible at matching and that I needed to match more sets per turn and also not leave shit all over the place so that it ruined my following turns.
Edit: What's your rank btw? Half-sta Tower of Giants gets boring as hell after a while, but I can't deny how good it is for ranking up non-stop on the weekends. I plan my ranks out so that I use all my stamina on either the weekend dungeon or whatever special is running (SSP for Echidna, for instance) and cover the rest of the level with 3 sta clears of Dragons of the Tower. From what I've read you can get to at least the low 80's without ever having to wait for stamina to regen if you do it that way. Having ~60 sta and 90+ team cost will be the biggest improvement I can make, imo. Should be a huge difference from being stuck with dubs because of how much Haku and Keeper of Rainbow cost (25 each).
