I bet his comp deductible is $50 and his clown shoes are at least $100, he's just a smart investor.

In my 45 years I have hit one guy over talking shit. You can talk smack but you absolutely do not threaten anyone's mother (or children).

Cad just stop with the I'm holier than your ass bullshit. Everyone has a line that once crossed they can and will become violent. I've been called more shit over my life than most...again I usually laugh.

Totally different scenario.I spit on you. Nowhere special. Your shoulder. Do you let it go? No one is hurt. Just wipe it off. Just curious.
Given that your new scenario is actual assault the rules are different.

I doubt thats actually true. Do you lock your doors?

Tell me where you live and let me come browse and see if you care. Bet you do.
Oh man I almost forgot about that night. lmao.... I thought you joking about your shit getting stolen cause you were so fucking nonchalant about it. Maybe it was the alcohol. We had to take a taxi cab from Rhode Island to Mass. What a night. SMH....
Just don't care that much man.

When I had to park downtown for college I'd leave my car doors unlocked. I figured if someone really, really wanted to steal my car they would (it was a shitty Neon why they'd want it is beyond me) and if they saw some loose change or wanted to rifle through my glove compartment I'd prefer them to just open the door and do it instead of smashing my window.

Someone smashed my window to steal my book bag and the window was never the same again after being replaced. Until I sold the car I heard broken glass moving around in there.

I had the luxury of learning from my older brother who was 2 years ahead of me at the same college. His friend had his car's window smashed 3 times until he got the better idea to just leave it unlocked so the homeless could just steal his change without also forcing an insurance deductible. So when I parked downtown I just did the same. Though I parked on-campus and didn't live on campus so I don't think anyone ever really took anything.

Unfortunately I got into the practice of leaving my car unlocked so after I graduated and moved into my first apartment my iPod got stolen out of my car which I'm sure was more a crime of opportunity since it was at a BW3's

I've definitely heard of this but never had to do it.. only time one of my cars got broken into was for the stereo. Idiots took the head unit and ignored the $3k in amps and subs ...lol. Fucked up the dash getting it out though and broke the window.

If your window got broken and there was always broken glass moving around in there, maybe you shouldn't have taken it to the cheapest possible place to get it fixed? Or take it back after. Thats bullshit, it shouldn't do that.

My window was smashed and I was told basically the same thing. It is impossible to get it all out. I only heard it rattling around in the door for about a month, but years later I'm still finding little bits of glass in my floorboard even though I pick it out and toss it as soon as I see a new one. What more could the repair shop have reasonably done? Take apart the door, take out the seats, remove the carpet? I don't think you're just talking about a slightly more expensive job at that point.

Had my window smashed on another vehicle that had tinting and never had the problem. The tinting held the piece together. I hate tinted windows, but that's actually a decent reason to get them.

You're entitled to have the car fixed to be the way it was prior, and your insurance will pay for it. Take it back until they fix it right.

I thought most insurance places would assess damage and write you a check based on their assessment. I don't think you can just keep bringing back because you heard glass rattle.

You can take it to a different shop. Cad is saying insurance companies basically try to strong arm you into taking it to their "preferred" shop which is only preferred because they do the work cheaply for the insurance company.

The insurance company is required to put it back the way it was before. They know this, but they rely on people thinking that the insurance company is in a position of power there, and they are not. The claimant is in a position of power. They rely on everyone backing down when they say no, which most do.

I love you and wish more people were as aware about this.

I work for a cheap insurance preferred shop and the shit they make us do is a lawsuit waiting to happen . Constant denial of repairs that were accident related, aftermarket parts, refusing to pay for full paint time. Shops take it because they think it's easy money but you end up losing your customer retention cause everyone is unhappy with the repairs.

As for cleaning out a broken window, if the tech isn't an idiot, he will get all the broken glass out and remove everything from the door to clean the glass out. I just had to do a VW jetty that I had to remove the whole door and turn it upside and shake it until it all came out.

There is a auto shop here in Columbus that advertises heavily with the "insurance companies are evil, we are not" line. Honestly I've learned a ton from their advertisement about how insurance companies and body shops are generally in bed together. If it is all true or not I can't say because obviously they want your business. But they are not a preferred shop by any insurance company and I doubt it is because they do shoddy work.

Most people have no clue how insurance companies operate and you see it in the politics thread with the "health insurance companies should compete to offer lower prices lol" bullshit. You know how you save money if you're an insurance company? Denying or underpaying claims. When you need your insurance, is that what you want? To get denied or underpaid? Grats on your competition and cheap insurance.

Insurance "should be" nothing more than "add up expenses for the entire group at the end of the year, divide by number of subscribers, send bill equally to all" but its turned into a bullshit industry that employs hundreds of thousands bent on doing nothing but fucking you over to "save money" for the company.

Insurance even at the core is a racket because if they didn't make a ton of money they wouldn't exist. So at the end of the day if you're buying insurance chances are you're pissing away money.

Well ideally you'd be paying a small premium over the "average" expense to avoid large expenses to yourself. It's commercialized socialism, nothing more. And it has its place, but people just need to realize how to navigate it.

The best way to work it but difficult for the average consumer is to get a cheap insurance like Geico but never take it to their preferred shops and take it to a quality independent shop.

My old shop never once used aftermarket parts, we'd call the customer and let them know how to play the game( call insurance company and bitch mainly) if they even tried. Sure your car might be in the shop a bit longer due to navigating the red tape but it actually comes out right.

That jetty that I referenced earlier had big scratches in the door panel from the glass breaking and I tried to get them to buy a new ine, but instead they will probably give the customer 100 bucks off his deductible so he thinks he's getting a deal when in reality it's like a 400 dollar part.
