Oh shit... see I'm so used to "charisma" checks never working I didn't even bother. But holy fuck, I coudn't catch up with the guy to even get a lasso around him let alone threaten his ass.

Remember, Rockstar controls, so you have to mash the run button to sprint. You need that when you're trying to chase down a runner.

okay, finally started playing, controls will take getting used to, however my question is pretty basic and i don't care if i look like a fool for asking because i'm just so use to other games with multiple inventories.
Horse storage / personal storage
i am trying to understand this inventory system... it seems that i have inventory that i carry on my person and i guess the horse does too, but i have no clue which i am looking at and when. Some distance from the horse opens the horse satchel?? i expected a kind of item transfer system from horse to self, but it seems to all be integrated into 1 inventory which is confusing as all hell.
any insight as to how this works would be greatly appreciated.

I did try that, but I'm not sure I did it right, because I wasn't going that fast. I usually just hold X as that is plenty fast enough. Also my stamina sucks butt as I don't run all that often though. I really need to just take my guy and wander around some.

When you're mounted, or you're directly accessing your horse's inventory, or you're in your base and you will have access to it - which as far as I can tell, only holds your extra weapons, and stored outfits (and pelts and meat tied to the back of the horse). All of your food, drink, ammo, is carried on your person. You can swap out your stored outfits in your base/camp. Access Change Clothes, R2 over a couple times to see your stored outfits. R3 after you've changed outfits to save outfits.

I encountered a pretty bad bug. During the last mission of chapter 6, I got to a point where a cutscene started and the scene totally froze. I was able to skip it, or go into the menu. I didn’t want to skip so reloaded the last auto save which put me back at the beginning of the mission about 15-20 minutes earlier at least. I replayed the mission, and game froze at the exact same spot again. I use the skip that time and was able to continue, but I missed a conversation which sucked.

I played Arthur as a good man, sure he steals and kills people but for the most part I played as a decent man, I maxed his honour.

I saw it coming when he started coughing, but when he learns he has tuberculosis, it still hit me hard because you saw where the game would be heading with him.

The thing that really starting hitting home though was scenes here and there. The last mission for Strauss, I ended absolving the debt, and kicked him out the camp.

Then the lady from the first Strauss mission where her husband dies because of you and she ends up becoming a prostitute that I ended helping at the end.

The nun in Saint-Denis who tells you to make the most of the time you have left.

The moment you save Abigail and send her and Sadie away. That fucking ride to the camp after that scene, with the music, and small voiceover of people you helped telling you that you were a good man...such an emotional ride.

The final moment with John, where you tell him to go be with his family.

All of course you dying, abandoned all alone on a mountaintop.

I think someone was peeling onions or something.

Everything about Arthur evolving and being a good man, but him never believing it even if everyone told him he was.

Really spectacular.

Beat it. What a ride. Some cutscenes hit me right in the feels.

They took the Witcher 3, TLOU, Tombstone and gta, put in a blender and made one of, if not the best stories I’ve ever seen in a game. Wrapped it up excellently as well. Have a few little niggles and complaints (might be a few hours too long for example), but I’ll remeber this for a very long time

Throw me in the love/hate boat with this one. Sometimes i look at how far I need to go on the map to do what I want to do and just quit for the night instead. I have fast travel unlocked but there really really just needs to be a return to camp option from out in the world.

I went to get the Arabian last night and hunted the buffalo while I was there. It took like 10 minutes to get the skin to the nearest trapper, then 10 more back to the nearest town to travel anywhere. The cinematic camera auto travel is shit because the horse goes at the slowest speed by default, so you have to mash x the whole time anyway. And if something dumb happens on the road 3/4 of the way to the destination and I would have had to reload to my manual save before starting on the trip and do it all over again, i might would fling the disc across the room.

Still a fantastic game. I just cant believe how some of these retarded mechanics made it through playtesting.

It is so weird, the best game that I don't enjoy playing half the time.

As far as travel, you don't stop at campsites or at the random side of the road events on the way? If you're trying to fast forward through the game and going point to point without engaging in the world on the way, I can see that being very, very irritating, but the shit that happens to and from base camp is pretty damn interesting. Obviously this fucks with golding a quest with all the time limits, but fuck if I care about that.

The game is better approached as a series of expeditions. My trip to get the Arabian included lots of hunting, some side-events, shopping, paying off some bounties, and exploration. It would have been annoying as shit just going from A > B > A

I think the big problem for me is that once there's a carcass or large skin on my horse I feel obligated to immediately head for a trapper or back to camp if it's one needed for a camp upgrade. Carcasses rot away rather quickly, and large skins are just plain obnoxious when you need like half a dozen of some of them and each one (two if you steal a horse) requires its own expedition.

RDR1 had fast travel and much shorter treks between locations, which kept me engaged enough going from mission to mission directly. RDR2 has drastically increased the travel time, but filled the gaps with a ton of random shit.

Fortunately you only need to do those once or twice, and after that it's a non factor. You can also get away with playing the game and not even mess with that part of it at all. It just makes it a little easier.

They really should have made it possible to fill up a wagon with like 5 or 6 carcasses/massive skins. Even if you had to steal a wagon and it poofed when you did a story mission requiring you to go steal a new one periodically it would have been great.

Right now though, cougars are the bane of my existence. It took me ages to get a couple panthers and now I can't find a single cougar even when I use the 3* bait (which so far has done exactly nothing...no 3* anything has showed up, let alone a cougar).

Considering the day/night cycle is absurdly short, yeah. I don't actually think it matters though. The guide says nothing about the existence of nocturnal animals, I got my panthers in the middle of the day even though people claim they are night creatures as well, and I see other nocturnal (IRL) critters like raccoons at all times of day too.

I think this area might just suck. I chose one near a trapper for convenience, but I've heard of people having more success at the spot way up NE near Annesburg.

Cougars are primarily nocturnal, but also show in limited amounts during the day as well. They're also in very isolated areas.

Yeah, that shit is pretty retarded with the rarity of some animals. How much would you have to play to get all the needed pelts if you never looked up stuff online? I don't think there's any in game information until after you've killed some of the given animal (except for common animals).

For all the immersion aspects, I've never heard in game people talking about their hunts or animal attacks for an area. That would be a cool in game way of disseminating that information. Or even a hunter's guide/lodge that you could buy/visit. Something.

At least for the legendaries you get a pop-up when in the area and the trapper talks about locations.

So I've only played a little so far. Rescued that dude, assaulted the village of guys, hunted for two deer. Basically tutorial stuff. However, one thing I would like to know:
If I walk around the guys I shot, I'll pick up some things randomly. Then I still have to search their pockets? Do they just drop half their stuff on the ground when they die, and the other half remains on them?

I think it's just ammo that you auto pickup.
