Before the Red Piller goes out into the world, he "prepares a frame" that involves characteristics that do not come naturally to him but that he associates with being an alpha. Aloofness, confidence, slyness, etc etc... picture how any seductive man is portrayed by Hollywood and that's the gist of it.

They refer to "holding frame" as staying within that persona as opposed to reverting back to their old bumbly beta self. Example: man excuses himself to smoke, woman with whom he was speaking says something like 'Oh, smoking is disgusting.' One course of action is to put the smokes away, and a lot of men would think "yea why anger her over a cigarette, I might not get laid if I do that, and I'd rather have sex than a cigarette". The best course of action is to hold frame, smile at her, say something like 'Fortunately, I'm here to take this bullet for you' and wink at her and go enjoy a smoke.

The frame persona communicates the following:

1) I'm not about to change my plans for you.
2) Smokingisdisgusting; I'm being flippant rather than bothering to argue that.
3) It's up to you if this is a deal-breaker; I'll be fine, regardless.

The idea being that the frame persona is all the things that the actual man isn't, and the aloofness/uncaring attributes of the frame persona is necessary to properly navigate a complex social scenario like flirting with strangers at a club. All of this stuff comes right down toenjoying who you are and seeking fun in everything you do.You can't ever "lose" if you truly believe that -- if it doesn't work out with this woman, no worries, I'll go home and play games and that's pretty fun too. Or do any number of other things that are entertaining. So, the fledgling man attracted to RedPillsees men they idolize project that and it comes across (to the Red Piller) as being an uncaring douchebag... when really it's simply the outward manifestation of self-love and self-respect.

I agree with a lot of this, it came naturally to me. Show too much empathy/compassion to strangers and it just comes across as needy/desperate/flawed. A lot of men never really understood that, or internalized it, until they started reading this shit now and that's why you have adherents like Himeo who are swallowing the bullshit pieces of it too, because if the self-help stuff was right, surely the ridiculous boolean conclusions they make towards women are right.
