As far as ties go, I don't care. I almost think people are putting too much thought into it. It's a friendly league based on a game that likes to bend people over on dice rolls. I'd be happy with flipping a coin myself.

Another tie against Dman with a slew of injuries. -ST to my 2 skilled Blitzer, niggling injury to another blitzer, and -AG to a lineman. I think I'll end up with 4 scabs for next game unless I buy a lineman quick since I didn't get enough money from that game to afford anything else.

Meh, unless you would need the lineman anyway, not worth it. Throw the loners on the line, with the intent of sending them home in a bag.

I've always enjoyed attempting to get the loners as injured as possible. Great for marking that pesky big guy all game.

Yeah always take a loner lineman for a game when you can. It keeps TV low and you can be absolutely suicidal with them, which opens up a few possibilities. And, if they pull down MVP or get some SPP, you can then hire them on afterwards if you want.

I uploaded the game to BB manager if you wanna check that, otherwise I will email it to you when I get home. He threw 36 blocks I think and got 9 armor breaks, I threw 26 blocks and got 7 armor breaks.

Got the niggling on a Blitzer from a block, the -AG on Lineman was also a block (started as a Dead result that converted with Apoth), and the -ST Blitzer was a failed dodge roll I believe.

Frustrating to not be able to field a full team since Week 1. I think the Blood Bowl union would definitely picket my team.

Eh, guess I don't need the replay, your summary right there is plenty. Thats just awful luck. I probably would have let your lineman die and saved the reroll for a positional. Easy to say that now in hindsight, but it's a good general rule for teams with throwaway linemen.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Offline games, I might save the lineman, but in this league they're basically cannon fodder until level 3-4. At least for Norse, that's how I'd play it. Guess I can't really speak for the other races.

Would have been the smarter play in hindsight, but I always hesitate because then I'll go through the rest of the game with 0 injuries.

Yeah, linemen are almost never worth saving, with a few exceptions.

- I'd save my kicker if I had no one else close to level.
- They're +1 str
- or, they have 2 or the following skills - Block, Wrestle, Fend, Dodge, Sidestep

This is doubly true with how expensive DE positionals are. 110k for a Witch Elf hurts the pocketbook very much so, you'd hate to be without one or a 100k blitzer because you decided it was a good idea to dump 70k on a lineman that they'll give you for free every game and functions just as well in almost any task you should be using him for. In your scenario, I would have used the apoth on whichever blitzer got injured first. Dead linemen? Np, get a rental next game. Agi 3 lineman? Np, he takes a punch just as well as he did last week. Toss him on the line and he'll work it until he dies (again).

I said this to Moon in IRC too, but I should say it here...if you're having trouble with injuries, don't get too worked up about replacing every player with a -stat, you'll go broke doing that and never get outta the hole. If you're taking a lot of injuries per game because your team is somewhat fragile, use the loners, use the apoth for your positionals, and then save up some cash, roll with the MNG's and don't fire anyone that isn't completely crippled for their job so that you can try to get a bench. A 14 player team in a league is going to outperform an 11 player team every time, just because there's a pretty good chance they're gonna walk into the second half with 11 on the field. Once the injuries start coming, it gets progressively harder to defend against them, and you really want that reset button at halftime to get you back to parity. An agi 3 lineman still does his job on the line great. A -AV lineman fouls positionals just as well as anyone else. Your niggled thrower shouldn't be getting hit if you're protecting him anyway. A lot of injuries can really be worked around if you think about them and the other ways you can put those guys to use. Once you start getting a bit of a bankroll, that's when you can say "Yeah, I should replace this guy now."

On my teams, after I have 12 players, I don't buy anything else unless it would leave me with more cash than I need to buy my most expensive positional if he died next game. With elves, this number might be 13, and with stunties it might be 14, but I think it's a good rule.

+1 on all that advice.
Pretty much any stat loss(other than STR) can be ignored on linemen, unless you have leveled them up into another purpose, at which point they are really essentially positionals. And even the STR loss guys can fill ranks until you are ready to cut them, you just use them for blatantly suicidal shit since you want them to die anyhow. Its better to live with some gimpage and have spare bodies on the team than go broke trying to stay healthy.

Okay, next season discussion.

Due to the way the league is set up now, only the guys that finish top 2 in Div 1 will receive prize money. I don't like that. Next season, I'm going to build separate leagues for each division. This will enable me to hand out prize money to the top guys in each division (which they deserve, and will help them transition up to the next division). This will also mean that anyone who wants to play is going to be able to play, as we'll be able to fill divisions with extra teams in order to make the numbers work. The only catch is that one or more divisions may run for an extra week or 2. I think it's a fair trade off for making sure as many people get to play as possible.

So, when Week 7 starts, I'm going to talk to everyone, and cross post this to the other games thread to pick up the people that may have forgotten about it, and I'll start setting up for Season 2. Look for a signup/team change/dropout post in about a week and a half here, and be thinking about whether or not you're gonna want to play another season/another team, etc. I'm gonna wanna get all that shit hammered out in a week, so that we don't have several weeks of downtime. So, be proactive, and start figuring shit out now. If you don't want to play next season, shoot me a PM so I can start planning for shit.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to do playoffs due to the promotion/relegation bit. I think it's just gonna end up being decided by best record. It would really suck if we do top 4 teams in each division playoff, and the guy with the best record eats a throw rock or a pitch invasion or something and the guy in 4th place wins and therefore moves up. If we want to do a separate tourney at the end of each season with the top 1 or 2 guys from each division for shits and giggles, we can do that too, but like I said, they'll already be getting the cash bonus and a promotion to the next division, 2 more matches of SPP and winnings may not be the best way to go for fairness across the board.

What about continuing teams vs. new teams? I don't mind people starting a new team for a new season, but eventually we're going to run into some massive TV differences between new teams and those that have gone for 2+ seasons.

That's what the inducement system is for.

You wanna reroll Lizards for season 3 and face my 1700 orcs? Grats on the wizard and Morg N Thorg and an extra reroll.

Kragg, I am leaving the country on a business trip this Saturday and will not return until the following Saturday. I will hopefully be good to play next week's game Saturday to Tuesday. Sorry about that.

Kyougou, I am good for Sunday after 5 EST, or anytime Monday/Tuesday. Also, what did Gavin do to get banned (outside of just being contrary all over the forum)?
