Tiebreakers!
I was looking over the divisions, and this may in fact come up. I was challenged on my stance on tiebreakers in IRC, and I figured I better bring it here for discussion.
The way it's setup in the original post is that ties will be broken via TD's scored, then TD difference. This was argued that it's not fair, because not all teams have the same capacity for scoring. Likewise, if we went to a casualty based system for breaking ties, not all teams have the same capacity for that either.
I've actually come around to that point of reasoning, and here's where we stand right now...if we need to break a tie because the records of 2 teams are the same, then we'll use their match game to break the tie (IE: Player A won when he played Player B, therefore he is considered the winner), and if the game was a draw, then I just flip a coin. It seems like any of the other metrics used to break ties would favor bash over ball handling, or ball handling over bash, and no one needs to be punished or rewarded based upon what team they picked at the start of the league.
What do you guys think? I think that a valid argument was made, that an Elf team could lose a lot of games, but end up with a ridiculous TD difference due to their 4-0 wins, such that it balances out their 2-1 losses. Likewise, a Khemri team shouldn't be punished because they can't move the ball upfield very fast, and are basically never going to win better than 2-0 or 2-1, simply because they're incapable of it under normal circumstances.
