So watched a bunch of the Chapel Waite episodes. I read The originals short story, don't remember what king anthology it was from, but remember it being Lovecraftian, and I don't necessarily remember there being vampires in the short story.

Seems like it's a blend of what I remember from that and Salem's lot, specifically with the priest, sheriff, the guy who returns home, etc.

It's not bad, old cheesy and was pretty slow to start, but before I finish this deal, I haven't seen suspicion it's going to be a stupid cliffhanger, and looking to see that there isn't a second season, I'm guessing it was canceled and I voice it my time.

Hopefully it ends where it could be considered a singular season, but I'm guessing that's probably not going to be the case.

That's really could have been condensed down and turned into an eight episode tight miniseries or something.

Maybe I'm wrong though.

King has written some awesome stuff over the years ( one of my favorite Fantasy books is Eyes of the Dragon ), but there were also some duds-- I'm looking at you Tommyknockers! But the older he gets, the more his insane, asinine take on reality melds into his writing. Then you've got the adaptions... ugh. I used to read stuff that really amazed me and thought, "I'd love to see a movie bring this to life". I don't think that way anymore. I'm tired of watching the things I love get absolutely fucking destroyed by Hollywood.

Finished that Chapelwaite thing. It was pretty good but it had its woke moments. They didn't seem too obnoxious, but it was obvious if you know what I mean.

All in all I thought it was good but I didn't realize it was going to be a supposed series, and reading up on it it's been canceled. I'd honestly like to watch a second season, but that is a pretty good job about leaving where it is.

Thanks Heriotze Heriotze for suggesting it. I did enjoy it overall.

Out on HBO Max and torrents.
Shit I need to check it out. Not sure why it need to be remade though when the Tobe Hooper original is still awesome. Even the tv mini series was ok.

Wait the original one was a TV and miniseries. Are you talking about the one that was on Syfy or something with Rob Lowe and Rutger Hower?

It's funny because I had to take a stupid antihistamine earlier and was just sitting in my office, and fired up the original '70s version so just kind of take a nap too because the stuff always knocks me out.

It's not true to the novel, and the Rob Lowe one is, but it's still great. Tried to find that version, but I think it's just on old DVDs. Same thing with The Shining tv Minnie series which is a much better adaptation compared to the Kubrick version.

Yeah they both were actually tv mini series but the original is cut into one film now. I was indeed referencing the Syfy one.

This was a bog standard Hiss & Growl. Not an original thing in the entire forgettable movie.

Does this one have the same ending as the book where are heroes are totally and completely fucked only to discover Barlow killed his Rensfield off screen and is thus unprotected as the sun is about to go down?

No.

The movie works a lot better if you envision it as being a prequel to Blade.

I'll preface this by saying I never read the book so I have no idea which of the 3 adaptations are closest. I can only compare them to each other.

This film suffers from lack of build up. It goes straight into it to try and have an about 90min run time. Which is a good time for most horror movies. How ever in this case you lack the build up of dread because it's so fast paced.

That being said it did the horror parts better than the other two adaptations. The use of light here was excellent.

Overall 5/10 forgettable. If you have HBO and are bored go for it. If not you have missed nothing.

You want to read the book, it's one of his best works. I read it every few years. There's a fantastic audio version available.

It's from the legendary era when King was doing copious amounts of Coke and drinking a case of tall boys every night. Then when he got on the wagon, became A faggy leftist.

I tried reading one of his books once, The Tommy knockers. I read like 80 pages and nothing happened. It was awful. Never tried since but I might give it a try.

That one's not too bad. I think I read a lot of them and enjoy them because my stepmom used to read all of his stuff. We used to take family trips in the minivan driving up to Wisconsin or out to Colorado, etc.

It'll be a 24-hour trip, and she used to read his novels with my sister and brother and my dad and I and the vehicle out loud. Basically narrating the book. Dad would be up late driving and we'd stay up just listening to her read.

I just ended up reading a bunch of his books because of that. I think I still have all of her copies of his novels that she had bought from used bookstores and what have you.

I was one of those things that we could always talk about, or watch the movies or miniseries together. Once I got older, I was able to suggest other books and stuff and we have great conversations his work his work.

She's the reason I've seen all of the horror movies as a kid. Every weekend you go to the video rental store, and pick out a scary movie.

Fuck, I really miss her., but thanks for making me remember that stuff. No bullshit.
