Hell, imagine what the military is doingright nowunder their cloak of secrecy. They were 40+ years ahead of the general population back in the 60's. I can only imagine that gap is even much wider with how fast technology improves and how much their black budgets have expanded.
Pro tip; 50% of the secrecy that surrounds groups like delta force or the cia is designed specifically to make them look scarier and more capable than they actually are, the other 50% is used as a get out of jail free card.

There are a couple videos about these already, they are totally impractical and pointless. It is much cheaper and far more efficient to put panels that track the sun on roofs and other man-made flat surfaces, roads are pretty much theworstplace to put solar panels. A rooftop system can generate the same amount of kwh at a tiny fraction of the cost and over much less space.

Not to mention you need more infrastructure to link roads to the grid as opposed to buildings which are already connected to the grid.

And a rooftop system the guy in the video installed on his house that generates the same amount of electricity as that 70 meter 3 million euro waste of money.

First Warm-Blooded Fish Identified : Discovery News

The opah, or moonfish, is the first known fully warm-blooded fish, according to a study published in the journal Science.

The determination helps to explain why opah are such high performance predators that have a keen sense of vision, swim speedily, react quickly, and have the stamina to chase down fast-moving prey.

Opah live up to 1000 feet beneath the ocean's surface in very cold, dimly lit waters, making this discovery all the more remarkable.

The researchers found that the industrious fish constantly flap its fins, which generate body heat. The flapping also speeds up the opah's metabolism, movement and reaction times.

That's cool. I'd love to see some data on how it performs vs traditional methods.
The point would be with 3d printing its far cheaper even if it doesn't perform as well due to material durability.

That's what I want flying my planes. Less durable, cheaper jet engines.

Probably wouldn't be useful for planes but would open up jet power for all sorts of things its not feasible for now. How about a scooter?

I think the cool/worrisome thing is that 3d printing is going to give many people access to otherwise obscenely complicated or expensive technologies at a fraction of the price eventually. Those guys who build kit planes or cars will one day be able to slap together exotic and dangerous machines where otherwise it would have been infeasible to scratch build a facsimile of a jet fighter.

That's possible but I don't know if it'll turn out that way. Even if a rich dude were to get a garage sized 3d printer, there will probably always be more to building a tank than just 3d printing stuff.

I am more concerned about 3d printing biological agents than some dumb fucker crashing his shit plane into the side of my house.

You say that now, but what if they can crash the biological agents into your house with a printed plane!

It's not the same people who own the roads and who own the rooftops though. Also, depending on the cities, the public buildings that municipalities own the rooftops of might be historical buildings that cannot be covered in solar panels.
