This. There is no reason to buy patented seed unless you think you can make more money planting it than conventional seed and that includes the price of buying the seed instead of saving seed from the previous years crop. If you hate patents and Monsanto then avoiding them is as simple as not buying their seed. Unless these "open source" people are developing something new and patentable and putting it out there unencumbered then this is just some feel good hippy nonsense.

The "open source" seeds also scare me. Monsanto may be some big evil corporation to hippies, but at least products they put out need to go through a lot of regulatory tests to be brought to market.

It's just seeds. I don't see how they could put something out on the market that is going to germinate into some malicious, cancer causing, 'feed-me Seymour' type of plant that is going to have an adverse effect on our food supply.

If I spend a summer growing heirloom tomatos and stockpiling all the seeds and then give away all those seeds, wtf does that need to be regulated?

You know a modified plant doesn't have to be modified to the extreme to eventually out compete a wild form in the field relatively quickly.

I'd trust Monsanto more than some random hippy dippy shits genetically engineering seeds, as it is in Monsanto's interest to keep their plants out of the wild.

Tried the product to see if it actually works? I haven't seen any. I do know they added volume to the substance to combat snorting it.

Heh, that was the first thing I thought of. The vodka sprinkles on eggs sales pitch is pretty lulz though.

I don't see the point of this. Where can I use a powder but not a liquid? And in those few cases, why would I want the harsh taste of alcohol NOT mixed in?

A half cup makes this useless. All practical applications go out the window when you still need to make a couple quarts of liquor Kool-Aid. Why not just buy the real thing at that point?
