Well considering I just signed up for 25mb at $60 a month this morning, you can say it's false all you want but I'll show you my bill when you get it if you wish.
You got fucked then. I'd cancel the order and let's see if we can find a better rate?... What zipcode? If you're in Uptown (I'm guessing maybe you are? haven't read through ALL the posts) then your rate should be the same. I had the same prices available to me when I lived near Tiffany's in Highland Park (Saint Paul) too. And the same in Bloomington. I literally took that pricing structure from a new customer search at the address in the posts, something's fucky here...

The Twin Cities certainly do, not all of it, but a decent chunk.
True but Century Link's speed in a lot of areas is pretty shitty. My brother's place (also in Highland Park) could only get a max of 12 mbps from them and up until just this month my parents had the same option in the northern 'burbs.

Not sure about Comcast but in my experiences websites are completely full of shit on what service is available to you.

I'm getting bent over by Comcast but I live about 90 mins away from Chicago.

Well I mean I know for a fact we don't have fiber here. So I don't really know how that works.

They didn't offer the 2Gbps before..
The backbone of the network has to be fiber. Running to the house, you can get get gb and 10gb speeds on newer cat 7 and up cabling. Just has short distance limitations.

I love how hard comcast hits consumers with their bit about "fastest, most reliable in-home wifi." I've had to explain to quite a few people that the internet they provide isn't somehow coming into their home primed for wifi. It's all to do with their equipment, which I personally found shitty and ended up buying my own router. And of course my router is now providing faster and just as reliable in-home wifi with Charter.

Only thing I liked about Comcast is being able to use their xfinity wifi at various hotspots from those still using Comcast equipment. Was kinda handy, though never fast/stable enough to Gamestream through. Then again Charter is just barely fast/stable enough I can stream games from my home PC at work, but quality suffers. Work connection is about 25 up and down, but my home connection is 65/5 and 5 upload is shit. I think I'd gladly pay my 50 bucks a month for 25/10 because 5 upload is shit.

I turned that Xfinity hotspot shit off, I don't need some mysterious extra charges or child porn transmitted through my equipment. I don't care what Comcast says, I don't trust them to meter it correctly.

It would be one thing if the cable companies cut your rate if you were willing to leave a channel of your wifi open to the public, but they don't, so fuck em.

Time Warner does the same thing, I go in and disable that shit ASAP.

Several years ago, Time Warner would charge you EXTRA if you wanted the wifi on their default cable modem turned on, they would disable it unless you paid them an extra $5 a month or whatever. I didn't care, I always used my own(better) router anyways. Now they want you to leave their wifi on as a residential hotspot, and not give you anything for it. Hell no.

Leaning towards cutting the cord and dropping my DirecTV when we move next month. Just can't seem to pull the trigger. I'll always have my mom's DirecTV credentials so it's cheating really since we'll have access to all the on demand apps.

A bit wary about not having Sunday Ticket I guess

Of all of my complaints with Comcast, their actual service and speed isn't one of them. I get about 115% advertised speed at all times

Some of these prices make me cringe. I have no idea how the rep did it, but when I signed up he some how managed to get me 50 down? for $31/month. Guess I can accredit it to the local consolidated government running fiber throughout the city and creating actual competition.
