This. When it works, it works well. It's when a problem arises and you're stuck spending 3 hours and multiple phone calls to get an agent who actually understands english or doesn't break something else internally while fixing another problem. That's why I have a seething hatred for Comcast.

I miss the days of locally owned isps (not the limited speed) some here in Utah were amazing. Usually run by gamers as well with multiple quake servers.

I just got a 1$ price reduction on my internet connection. Now I'm paying 11$ / month for 1gbps and another 7$ for a mobile plan with pretty much unlimited everything (0.01 cents / sms and some international calls are 0.05 cents / min). No caps on mobile or at home.

Everyone gets max speed 50 miles away. The point is to have good speeds everywhere on the globe and since a lot of shit is in the US I felt it was more representative than a 999/200 mbps pic.

Another reason would be to rub it in your faces because I get better speeds 4300 miles away than you do at 50 ... there's not a lot of stuff around here to be proud off.

God forbid you have to call about a billing issue.

Me: "FOR THE LAST FUCKING TIME I NEVER HAD ONE OF YOUR SHITTY MODEMS. STOP CHARGING ME FOR IT."

Rep: "Ok sir, I will credit you for this month and it should be off by your next bill."

6 months later, still have to call every god damned month.

Luckily I haven't had that problem yet at my current location.

I've never had an Internet outage in the 5 years we've had Comcast with the exception of Hurricane Sandy. Still doesn't excuse them charging so much here.

Their router isn't even that bad, I don't even use my own right now. I still get 150Mbps on a speedtest with it, so I can't complain - PS3/PS4 work well too.

At first I was going to say I don't understand why they'd even write that but I do understand - old people and computer illiterates believe that stuff.
