Maybe because Garriott acted like an arrogant ass in some interviews back then? Was the reason I passed up on this game anyway.

Someone is doing a wiki for this which seems to give a decent idea of some of the content for the game :Shroud of the Avatar Wiki - SotA

Love the graphics for the crafting stations and the Mining skill brining back lots of memories from UO :Category:Crafting - Shroud of the Avatar Wiki - SotA

Not sure why I didn't pledge the KS but I'll be ponying up for this.
I was very impressed with their housing decoration video:Shroud of the Avatar House Decoration Demo - YouTube

I am not much into house decorating myself to be honest, but the feature seemed very easy to use and very complete. Stacking items, assembling items to form a scene which you can then put in your backpack as a whole and unpack where ever you want, it looked very professional.
I think it is also a smart move that players can submit their own Unity 3D creations: there are some creative folk out there. I expect there to be a huge library of items at some point.

I am curious how combat will be: I never really played UO so I have a very open mind about it.

Wow, I thought I backed this game, but apparently I did not. I may have to buy into their early access when that gets rolling.

So I watched a video of this. When you're in the over world view, can you see other people?

I'm not really sure if this game is an MMO, or more of a Diablo II style game in it's way of doing online.

I was watching Unity's Unite 2013 keynote speech and Garriott came out to praise how great Unity was. In it, he said they spent something like a month building a demo to have something to show for the Kickstarter, then as soon as they were funded, they started from scratch to make the "real" game and what we have now is whatever they've been able to piece together in the last 6 months or whatever since their Kickstarter ended. Pretty interesting way of going about it, really. Also a pretty good advertisement for Unity, which I'm sure is why they asked RG to come out and give a speech.

You do but it's very limited.
Are you playing the EQN:L alpha? Limited like that or more so? I am checking out the project:gorgon game after the recommendation here, and I am pretty impressed with it just being a couple of dudes + unity. Seems like the engine is pretty versatile.

Haven't been around when the servers are up yet, think all you can do right now is walk around and craft, RG posted recently that they just got a temporary global chat up if that gives a bit more perspective.

Oh I must have glossed over where you said RG, my bad. I thought you were talking about Project Gorgon (which is what I meant by playing last night) as the people in the SotA website chat service told me there was nothing to see or mess around with until the next alpha phase. Although I am just a $45 scrub, and not in the super secret big spender club yet.

*Edit* My brain must be fried - I thought you were saying that you could run around and craft right now, meaning in this moment as opposed to right now in the grand scheme of the game.

Havent been following this, but is it still going to be the GW1 style, only players in towns? I believe I remember him saying that most of the game will be playable offline too?
