I wouldn't smash my note 3 for it but I'd smash my old original Evo I still have!

Heh, nice just noticed no "in contract" rule or whatever. Can demolish the old phone the parents decided they don't want for it. Probably upgrade a friend if I win or something though.

Note: Apparently the phone is enormous, saw it held against a M8 and its gotta have a quarter inch or more on the M8.

Speaking of huge phones, I was looking around the Sprint store the other day, and I had no idea that such a thing existed, but here is the Samsung Galaxy Mega:

I think they may have gone overboard with this one

Hahaha, yea we ordered one for some transporation guy at my last job. I lol'd when I took it out of the box and saw how much of a monster it was. Thing wasn't going to fit in most pockets.

It's specs are worse than the S3, it's pretty silly. It's basically for (and I don't mean to offend) ghetto people who can't afford a Note and want a big phone. It's a huge selling phone to a.....certain....demographic at my store.

AT&T is doing what they can to turn their phone sales around. Their voice plan subscribers have been in a slow but steady decline for a few years now, it's a lot worse than many actually realize. Their tablets and data subscribers though have grown and that's what's really making them money now.

In the future you'll probably see a lot of exclusive AT&T phones.

If it is, it will be like the iphone- diehards etc will move carriers and then once the att only wears off the jumping of the ship will rock it a lot...again

I've yet to ever own a smartphone but this Spring I've decided it's time to join the modern age. I don't have any idea what I'm doing and am hoping some of you more tech savvy individuals can assist me. I am only interested in two things -

1. Price
2. Can search eBay good

I don't care about camera or video or games or any of that. I want to be able to have a means with which to look something up on eBay and I don't want to take it in the butt to do so. My current cellphone is a little prepaid tracfone that doesn't even come close to using the amount of minutes I get per 90 day card. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Probably Nexus 5, Moto G, or OnePlus in the near future for phone - while you say you don't want those things, trust me when I say the desire will creep in some at some point, and those all do a decent job at a incredible value.

For provider - location is important, Verizon is required in some remote areas. Coverage with the other providers is generally more limited (although catching up quick) but much better value per line generally.

Assuming all providers are good for your ZIP (coverage maps on their websites tend to be mostly honest) and only one line, Sprint Framily is probably the best value assuming you can find one with 4+ members already with spots open (6+ is ideal - mine is at 4 currently) with your light projected use something prepaid like Ting might be ideal though, but the math will be chaotic without a history of use to compare.

Or in short: research provider and prepaid vs pay by month (Framily style) vs contract - phone choice is easy, provider is complicated. Once you narrow which work well in your areas and prepaid vs other types it'll be easier to compare and contrast for you. (or if that's impossible, budget for upfront costs and monthly budget)

Anyone here sold one of their granfathered unlimited data plans on ATT or VZW? In the process of porting my numbers off VZW and onto gvoice. I am wondering what's the best method to sell(ebay, craigslist, etc) and what I should watch out for. Do I just agree with someone on the internet to transfer two lines and voila, it's done? All the personal information I had on the account, including the autodraw out of my checking account, will be protected from the new person?

Are your lines under contract? Unlimited lines under contract can be Assumption of Liability transfered and it is a fairly easy process done by contacting customer service etc- that swaps the account details etc. Mine where off contract so I really had no "legal" way to transfer /true/ ownership of my account without them knocking off the unlimited data... I could have changed information etc, but in the deep dark core of info and agreements all of my details would have still been there... from what I understand- I searched on and off a few days thinking about selling my lines before I jumped to the 10gig 2 line plan and got my new Q10 (very awesomer than the Z10) but because my lines had no contract to have someone "assume the liability" of- I could not really do it under the provisions I read about.

And the BlackBerry Q10 is a nice peice of equipment, feels 10x better than the Z10- a phone corporate people should not be embrarrased to plop down on the conference table- perfect weight and grip. Of cource the screen could be slightly bigger with less top bezel... speaker phone and headset clarity is bounds better than the Z- construction and materials are top notch... but as most of you will say "its still a blackberry" ;-)

It has to be done while under contract? Damn, it just ended yesterday. I specifically waited because I didn't want the porting of my numbers to gvoice to cause a possible ETF.

That is only the information I gathered from a few google searches and forum readings- others may have more current and better information to go on. And you are correct- a number port automatically flags that line as cancelled or for termination- so if there was contract they would hit you for the ETF minimum- that would be 110$ under current rules- but maybe only a prorated 17$ depending on the contract details.

Currently their ETF policy is a protate of 10$ per month off the total 350$ of the 24 month contract- meaning it is left with the minimum of 110/120$ - BEFORE it used to be equally prorated (when I first joined verizon) so it was simply 350/24 so like 14.50$ a month so with only a month left it would have just been 15$ /shurg they change anything that may benifit customers... I hate that Verizon is so fast and reliable with better than anyone else in my area of coverage!

Supposedly, people have been successful at porting to gvoice while requesting a new number on VZW at the same time. Since gvoice takes a while to port(24 hours) but you can get a new number right away, when the port finally goes through, VZW doesn't see it as a port because the number is free and just sitting there and gives it to gvoice anyway. I wasn't willing to risk something getting fucked up and paying 2x ETFs, so I waited until end of contract.

Oh well, lose out on selling a couple grandfathered unlimited plans, but it certainly simplifies things. I was kinda wary of handing my account over to some stranger, even if I got my phone numbers off the accounts cleanly.
