Yes, you're exactly like an old person, using too much technology.
LOL

on the MORE plan its 15$ per 1gb of overage, the plan tier is 10$ more per month for 2gb more.

my usage would be cut in half if I was not lazy and turned wifi on at home, and my usage would be practially nothing if I then also used wifi at work... I do not travel much etc. so really I have to consider how much I care about saving about 30$ a month, terminating my 3rd line either way will save me 40-50$ a month regardless.

If nothing else, use wifi at home because it doesn't drain your battery near as quickly as using your 4G data antenna.

Indeed. Speed is generally lower too.

Really happy with the lower drain not micromanagind Wi-Fi on the M8 has. Not sure if its the M8 or Sprint Conmections Optimizer that also saves having to reauthorize public Wi-Fi loginsbut its a hassle I now can ignore.

I have "standard cable" internet - not "super" or lightning or whatever, but not "light" or budget level- my internet is about the same as LTE 4-8MPS down typically and 1-2 up... and I have a black berry, although its battery is not as good as "classic" blackberrys it is better than that of my pre's and they where better always than my wife's droids and iphone, so battery is rarely a thing for me- the Z10 is at 40ish when I go to bed on normal use, 20 if I have been doing a lot of stuff... the Q10 is even better from what I have read.

Thus the generally. If speed is a concern though the upgrade to the cable bill to up it is probably $10 ($0 if FiOS with their promo) vs the usage fees on 4G.

All stuff to weigh. (and part of why the "unlimited" providers on normal tiers appeal to me. Sure it's 2G past a point, but never have to monitor or deal with inconsistent bill amounts - which suuuck with fixed income)

I wish i had fios in my area but i dont, only verizon home internet is sat... but i saw somewhere they offer LTE @ home? that could be cool- but my cable provider is brighthouse...they aint that bad its like 45$ a month for decent service that handels any need I really have- HD streaming, netflix etc

I am looking at other carriers - as you said- I dont mind being limited on speed after 2 or so gigs, just dont charge me... but my wife as an iphone and I dont feel like buying her a new one when we change carriers.

Lots of carriers are doing things to try to help people break their contracts now.

But yea, being stuck sucks. Sidenote on that however for the thread in general - apparently Sprint is going to be SIM friendly next year, so only Verizon will have the "stuck ditching your phone to change carriers" issue soon.

Its just sprints SIM - aka GSM side of their phones, Verizon most of their global phones are unlocked sims now anyway- my pre3 was locked to vodaphone but my z10 is unlocked- so while I /could/ take my z10 to ATT or Tmobo - i would not get full functionality as it only has certian bands of GSM, i do not think it would work on either of thier LTE's and only parts of HSPA+ and EDGE.

Just because a phone has a SIM doesn't mean it has the radio bands to operate on other networks. I'm not even sure if SIM ensures it is GSM. One of the many reasons I'm ditching VZW at the end of the month.

The press release said absolutely that they'd be AT&T and T-Mobile interchangeable for Sprint sold phones after Feb. 25, 2015. (date might be off a day or two, its off my head from yesterday)

I do not foresee manufacturers making phones with every GSM, LTE, HSPA etc frequency although I an sure they could if they wanted.

Nod there's a good chance most won't, I've got a feeling HTC One M8'smightbe after the issue with mine. (at least the Sprint version, which DOES have extra hardware - there's apparently Karmon-Hardon or whatever audio waiting to be enabled in software on Sprint ones) From the diagnostics my antennae was still functioning but it wouldn't connect to any Sprint frequencies at all for any length over a few seconds until I swapped it out and kept acting as if I was permanently roaming even standing within a block of a Sprint tower - which since it thought the antennae was fine feels to me like the antennae was, just the frequencies flipped to another company's.

Do keep in mind Sprint has been, thanks to a Japanese investing partner or something, investing in a TON of new frequencies though. And they're ditching CDMA sometime in the near future as well. (seen some complaints from people about CDMA going away, not seen the Sprint statement on it officially though - if it's wrong, chalk it up to bad rumors)

Would make sense since they'll probably end up buying T-Mobile though I don't see them dumping CDMA, anything is possible.

More problems with my old S3. This time through my home Wifi network. My internet on my computer tests out to about 55 Mbps. My fiance's iPhone is showing 33 Mbps. My S3 is showing 4.11 Mbps in the exact same spot as her iPhone. It i has been slow as hell for days. Wtf?

I've not tested on other networks/routers but what the hell could be causing this? Doesn't matter where I am in our apartment. I can get 20-35 Mbps from the iPhone yet my S3 will get 2-4 if I'm lucky. Data through Verizon is working fine, though.

Which iPhone? Recent standards have had better WiFi perhaps. I know tablets talk a lot about improved WiFi last gen.

It's an iPhone 5 but that is quite irrelevant. I'm sitting in the exact same spot that I tested the iPhone at (two fucking feet away from the router) and I'm getting 4 Mbps on the S3. I used to 30-40. Something is fucked up with the phone, no idea what it is though.
