The newer ones will actually say "fast charging" on your screen if it is working correctly. Using the older chargers will simply say "charging".

(This goes for both Qi wireless and wired chargers)

Little bummed my Qi I bought (advertised as "Fast Charging") isn't doing Fast Charging w/ my S7 Edge. =/ It reviewed well too - but I guess most people aren't using it for the claim of Fast Charging to review it properly. (I'm using the original cord and adapter)

I've ran across this problem a few different times, with different power banks, as well as multiple USB plugs. I think it has to do with the microUSB cord that you use, and of course the output of the port you are using.

Purchased a plug that had the 2 different USB plugs, both supposed to output 2.0a so it fast charges, and it doesn't fast charge on my Note 5. Only the original plug does.

Gonna be more careful about what I buy when I have to switch everything over to USB-C with the Note 7.

You must use the newer Adaptive Fast Charger at the wall outlet in conjunction with that pad for it to work.

If you use the old adapter with the new pad, you are still going to charge at the old slow regular rate. (I found this out the hard way too)

The cord itself makes no difference.

And for clarification, a standard 2.0A adapter is not going to enable "fast charging". There's a special one that varies output (adaptive charger).

Notice the text and icon on this wall plug.

Yep using the Sammy one at the base - I'll try switching the cord just to see though.

Damn it, wish I had known that. I figured when it said fast charging, and 2.0a output, that was going to be good enough. :( Ugh. I'm a noob.

I have that exact Samsung wall outlet, and it does say adaptive fast charging on it. So that would make sense that none of the other ones are actually fast charging. What a stupid thing.

Going to have to scroll up and see peoples recommendations for USB-C adapters and accessories as I'm stepping fresh into that world with the Note 7 next week.

Edit: Doh, the USB-C stuff was on the other forums, but I don't think that I want to go all the way over there to look. I took it off my favorites and everything. :(

Edit2: So the only way to get the "fast charging" on Samsung devices is to use the adaptive fast charging wall adapters? Doing a search on Amazon, and Samsung wall plugs are the only ones that are coming up. Granted, the 2.0a output isn't exactly "slow" but it's not the hour and 20 minute fast charge that I was expecting.

Yes, it is a bit of a confusion the 2A chargers for Samsung had been out for many years. That was standard fare for Samsung, while Apple stuck to 1A watching paint dry slow charging. You could still put your Samsung on a 1A charger, but it would basically charge at half speed. A lot of the old 3rd party generic brand chargers were 1A by default so they would be compatible for all devices.. at the detriment of Samsung devices. So when people caught on that Samsung needed 2A chargers for their normal faster charging rate, some started advertising as a 2A fast charger to distinguish themselves from the slow 1A chargers.

This whole new Samsung "fast charging" is a whole different beast. You NEED to have the actual "Adaptive Fast Charging" wall adapter. It is no longer a steady 2A feed, but it varies the voltage and amperage output through the charge cycle for a much quicker charge.

So basically you have 3 tiers of chargers (in order of fast to slow):
1) Adaptive Fast Charging - 50% in 30mins / varies voltage and amperage for best results
2) Samsung Standard 2A - Normal quick charging
3) Generic / Apple 1A - Slow trickle charging

Finally starting to use headsets now - anyone got a suggestion for a good (doesn't need to be audiophile quality though) bluetooth headset for exercising with? Preferably one with a hefty charge? [Mic isn't necessary though, no plans to use it to talk on]

That new Note looks sexy. Might have to look into that next year when I can get a new one. The wife is all happy with her S5 so I dont think she will be getting anything new barring any "accidents".

Don't see the minor improvements vs. S7 Edge being worthwhile - especially with the smaller battery - but that's just my take on it. It's still based off a phone that's left me floored.

Pricy, but they do sound to fit the bill. Wish Listed for the moment - hopefully can find something that fits but isn't quite as pricy. Got a feeling I'll lose a pair or two over the years, so would be nicer to be dropping a $20 or a $50 rather than a $100 every time I do, lol.

Yea, agreed. The only other viable option would be LG Tones but those sit around the neck, not everyone prefers that.

Saw those. Seems like low rating for oem straight from Samsung.
yea, maybe some ppl got "fake" chinese copies, idk, just buy one, check it w/ a battery app and make sure it says made in korea and has NFC. Whats the alternative? having a shitty battery, waiting for possibily a new phone? maybe?

Google released Duo yesterday, and it appears to work great. Used it with my brother in law yesterday, and the quality was perfect. Huge improvement from Hangouts.
