On a completely different note, has anyone else been getting slammed with scam/solicitor bullshit phone calls on their cell lately? I've received at least 2-3 a day for the past 2-3 weeks - presumably all from VOIP fake phone #'s from what I've googled. Hax0rz release my phone # or some shit? I'm on the "do not call" list or whatever but scammy fucks gonna be scammy fucks.
Yup, I've been getting quite a few as well. Some of them get automatically blocked, some show up with a red background and say scam call. Some of them I know to ignore because I still have a 619 number, but haven't lived in San Diego in 10+ years. So anytime my wife or I get 619 calls we know it is some sort of spam.

Some of the 800, 866, or 877 numbers actually don't even get through to my phone very often. Many times I will see a pop up on my computer screen about an incoming call, and before it even rings to my phone it disappears. And it is always one of those 800 numbers. I don't know if Fi or something is automatically blocking them, but whatever it is I like it.

I got a hilarious one last spring. It came up on my caller ID in red with a message saying that Google thought it was a scam call. I answered it anyway and it was a dude with an almost incomprehensible Indian accent telling me that I had been "selected by the US government to receive $750 from the US government". I hung up before he got around to telling me that I just needed to give him my social security number and credit card so he could send me the cash.

I don't know why anyone would hang up on those scammers.

I mess with them until they hang up.

Have none of you guys heard of multi factor authentication? Password managers? Online payments? There is tons of use for biometric scanning. Just wait until you get hacked. Then you’ll wish you used that stuff.

Lol. Hacked for what? I never put a password on my phone either. There is literally 0 on it that is of use to someone else data wise. If someone wants my phone that bad, then so be it.

Keepass2Android will allow you to use a fingerprint to unlock it. You have to use the password once, then once the database is loaded it will lock it when you leave the app and allow you to re open it with a fingerprint.

Edit: Just double checked and there is an option to allow you to use only the fingerprint as well.
And on some devices, like mine, can stay unlocked if it's at your house (GPS).

Yea I've had a rash of them recently too - thought I gave my number to someone I shouldn't have (like when I was job hunting or something, I don't give my number out much) - but guess there's some master database they got a hold of or something. Annoying shitheads. (Especially since my phone line ties into my work - so every call distracts me from potential work)

At least they figured out that they need to be a little specific. No one calls from "the US government" which is what my guy told me.

Get spam calls and as soon as I hang up or block it the next phone with a consecutive number will ring until they get thru all 4 of them. That really makes me want to answer.

Anyone tether or have a plan that allows you to use a hotspot for more than 10gb/mo?

Wife got a Jetpack and was sold a bit of a BS when she bought it and was upgraded to unlimited on Verizon.

Dropping to 3G with a few days of vacation left sucks. At least it will reset before she heads to Colorado next week.

Alright, ordered me a case and screen protector for an S8+.

I don't own one but I may eventually.

And Amazon has pretty loose return policies so...

Bought a Gear 360 camera because it was $49 and why the heck not and also bought a 2017 Samsung VR new off ebay for $60. Pretty cool taking 4k 360 video and watching it back in VR later. Toys.

I don't think so, at least not in the way you're thinking about I would guess. If you have friends on different carriers you can each d/l something like OpenSignal or Network Cell Signal which will both give you an RSSI, so you could compare that way. Even if your phone covers all bands I didn't find anything that would just act like a spectrum analyzer and give you everything. But if you find something I'd be interested.

I found a spectrum analyzer that would do exactly what I need, and then some. Lol little pricey.
Think I'll just see what's available and go from there.

Really like the idea of the modular moto phone that's out, wish the specs were a bit higher end.
