hurm I am 2-3 episodes into the final season and I just didn't want to finish because of "titanic-ism" meaning I "know" the ending- I suppose something Wombat et al say is godlike - I need to finish I suppose :-D

Also, random pondering - maybe it should be in the "shower thoughts" thread.

Do you think that the sex side of Spartacus should have gone full "hardcore" like they did with the violence etc.? They have gone as far as merkins and skintamax dry humping let them with the occasional shaved lips here and there... but do you think it would add more to what it is if they showed more and gone just as "real" and all out as they did on the violence etc. (I mean the slicing off half the front of that dudes face and the eyeball falls out...god damn...that's more graphic than a hard dick or real labia's)... Kind of like in GoT the Drothraki wedding scene where the dudes where suppose to be having sex with that chick out in the open during the dance but its just hilariously self censored and looks like a bad day at da club.

The Spartacus finale is the best singular episode of TV ever made. Period. Visually stunning and emotionally heartrending. Just pure fucking epicness.

No, this isn't porn. Once you descend into doing real sex for TV shows you lose a bunch of actors who won't put up with that nonsense and you just end up with porn stars who can't act. Besides, cutting off the massive dick of that one dude was enough for me, I still wince to the day thinking about that scene. I have zero desire to see a show where they woulda done more hardcore shit like the Romans really did, for torture and pleasure

I mean the real history of the Servile Wars in Rome is absolutely fascinating, I remember spending a few nights afterwards reading books and internet history on it

I've watched all of banshee so far and I love it as well. I have to give the writers props on that one too because I had no idea how they would take the premise past a single season but they pulled it off magically.

Ceteris paribus, if they had Lucy Lawless, Viva Bianca, Katrina Law, Ellen Hollman et all doing full on sex in the show it would probably heighten my enjoyment of it. But they wouldn't have gotten those actresses to do porn. The best they could have done is bring in Sasha Grey or someone to either be an inferior lead actress or some random roman slave to have a few minutes of nasty.

9songs is considered art indi real movie, as is shortbus and other "real films". Was just a ponderence tis all, I know the reality of it does not lend itself to making it happen, was mostly wondering if you felt that if doing so would make it "even more real"

Didn't HBO try to make a "porn but not really kek" show years ago? Tell me you love me or something like that? They used realistic prosthetic genitals/etc to create scenes. Show still sucked.

I guess I don't see what the big deal is if you're naked on film whether you're really sexing your gorgeous co-star or not. I mean really like any of these actresses are delicate flowers.
