So we got to see our new office spaces yesterday and all of the desks are auto up/down. Looks to be fromNext DeskDoubt I move to standing but will give it a try.

If youre going to get one, the adjustable ones are the way to go. There's a few women at my office who bought the adjustable height attachments for their desks and none of them ever went back up to the standing position after a week. Same people that bought those medicine ball chairs and switched them back out after falling off like a dipshit.

Been using a standing desk for like 5 years now. The trick is not to get one of those ridiculously overpriced adjustable ones. Instead I just bought some of the expandable Ikea desk legs (GERTON Leg, adjustable - IKEA) and put them on the normal cheap Ikea desk board. Works like a charm and is only a little pricier than the normal Ikea legs.

I have a cheap bar stool (like one of these STIG Bar stool with backrest - 24 3/4) that I sit in sometimes if my knee is really bothering me, but I'll sit for maybe 20 minutes at most since the chair becomes somewhat uncomfortable after that.

It feel like it really has helped my lower back/hip pain since I switched it up and I do notice a difference if I spend too much time working from home where I have a more normal set up. Could be placebo though, who knows.

I've been using mine for well over a year and love it. Varidesk for sure. I've never once adjusted it to the sitting level.

The one I linked isn't that overpriced. I got the reclaimed wood look(more expensive) with everything but the treadmill add-on for like 1300$. Granted you can buy a shitty old desk at staples for 50$ but I figured this discussion was geared towards people who are on a lot....work from home folks or nerd gamers. 1300$ aint bad, you could probably do my exact desk with the default white look for 900$ if you dropped an add-on or two.

Side note: I actually have been thinking about the treadmill for some time now to be honest. I have a feeling I'll break sometime this year and buy it.

I am considering treadmill too, standing is nice and I won't die which is nice but extra calories is always a plus

We've got about 20 people with these at work, and the count keeps climbing as pussies bring in doctor's notes to oblige the firm to buy them. I have no criticism of the product itself beyond the fact that it makes moving employees around the office a major pain in the ass.

Curious what medical conditions they are listing. Initially I was told standing was best too. That was for thrombosis and risk of clotting but it wasn't that many months until standing promoted severe cramping and swelling due to the pooling of blood in the ankle/feet/legs. I am not aware of although there may be other conditions that would require standing over sitting. My experience has been if you have conditions I do neither are preferred. Preferred is elevating feet with bouts of walking/jogging with stretching and therapy exercises.

I suppose it could also be spinal or maybe carpal?

Despite all that I suggest anyone that buys one to make sure it can be used sitting as well. I know several streamers who bought them and I believe every single one went back to a sitting desk within 6 months.

You wouldn't want to stand all day. Perhaps stand an hour sit an hour, or whatever. The varidesk is convertible so you can adjust it up and down all day.
