There are no people that aren't part of the game industry, or hardcore gamers, that take the industry even remotely serious.
That is why they have so many complete idiots making dubious calls, terrible practices, an insane amount of missed opportunities. Other industries are strictly regulated and / or closely watched, but in the land of gaming anything goes.
Bobby Kotick, the big man at Activision-Netease, was a director at yahoo from 2003 to 2008. You know, there very same yahoo that struggled its way through 2008 and had to lay off a ton of people. He bought 25% of Activision assets in the early 90s, and shortly after made it to CEO, after achieving jack fuck in other industries.
