Sure they will reboot it and even ignore continuity with 7-9, but they won't explain it. They didn't explain it in the cases you mention.DC did it all throughout the 90's and 2000's as did Marvel occasionally. I.E. Fantastic Four.
Star Wars isn't special.
Shitcanned.

9 wasn't good, but 8 was basically an attack on the fanbase.
i dont think they are capable of a clean slate. they had a clean slate with the disney films, they could have started the series in any timeline, but they chose a sequel to the original Star Wars and chose to remake the original trilogy but with updated characters to fit current year. none of this was new, christ they even scrounged up the original bigbad who died in the OT. if i was in charge of ST i would throw all that disney shit in the trash and continue with the adventures of Luke Skywalker or just nope out of the entire thing because its a dead franchise. i dont even think the Baby Yoda show can save it.Jump the series like 80 years. Recast an older Rey with a new fledgeling Jedi Order. Kill her off in the first movie Obi-Wan style. Then you are left with pretty much a clean slate of new characters.
And you will still be retarded if you pay to see it in 3.
Hollywood's formula for special effects over story isn't going away soon.
