Yep you're right I hear it now.

So does Kylo save her from another Knight of Ren from killing her when the jedi students were slaughtered? Maybe thats why he feels like he needs to kill Han because of the pull of the light side has taken him before.
Yeah I think something like this. Its clear in the scene with Kylo and Han that he hasnt been able to fully turn to the darkside. That the pull from both is "tearing him up".

I think people are right, after he is seduced to the dark side, he and the knights of Ren ( who may have been other luke students) turn and kill the rest, but spare a young girl. Even in his turn Kylo was too torn by the light side to kill a child. He leaves her on a backwater planet telling her to stay htere and her parents will come get her some day.

DOwn the line that is why as soon as someone mentions that Finn is with a girl he gets angry and asks what girl. He knows there is a force sensitive girl on that planet and knows its going to be her.

Now is she his sister? Maybe. Maybe they make no mention of it because she is assumed dead. Could she be lukes daughter? Sure. She could also just be a young force user coming back into the fray. The fact that it seems like Luke had a full on Jedi school in some descriptions, yet Han says he was training one boy and one girl is odd. Maybe he did just have 2 students, or maybe he took two of Han and Leias kids.

I think in setting up an ultimate battle between Rey and Kylo, it makes more sense to have them be siblings with one killing their father than them being cousins. That makes her reaction to Hans death make more sense. And Leia wouldnt tell her because either she thinks her daughter is dead, and when realizing this is her and she doesnt know it, wouldnt say it to cloud her mind during jedi training or preventing her from going. The same way everyone hid the truth from Luke about Vader until he was ready, or realized it himself.

I'm thinking Supreme Leader Snoke is the Wizard of Oz. Not literally of course, but since he's already using giant floating he...err hologram to appear then who is to say what he really looks like.

Really enjoyed this movie. I'm not a huge Star Ward nerd and haven't seen the original trilogy since watching them on tv a decade or so ago. Lots of friends hyped it up though, so we saw it yesterday and thought it was great.

I didn't mind turning the planet into a Death Star bc it seemed more logical to pull energy out of their sun to do it. For the nerds, how exactly were the former Death Stars powered?

On the hentai monsters dragging Finn instead of eating him, I just figured they had just eaten about a dozen dudes and were trying to bring him back to their nest to eat later.

Bought the entire collection though and will be watching them throughout the week. Going chronologically, so I'm looking forward to getting through the prequel trilogy. Goddamn the writing and acting are atrocious.
The giant reactor that they blew up in Return of the jedi. Death stars have a HUGE open core in the center.

P.S. - I'm still not convinced that "Rey" is her actual name. I think its a name being used to conceal her identity.
Most definitely. I think Han knows who she is and that is why he asked her name. I think he wanted to see what she knew and the state of her mind.

IMDB trivia also seems to suggest Rey is Luke (or Leia's) daughter due to the fact she has a doll of a x-wing pilot in her 'house' as well as a rebel helmet that she puts on (Luke's?).
I'd still go with Ezra's daughter from the cartoon as he was also a scavenger that collected helmets and is Luke's age. But also I'm thinking it would be really, really cheezy to simply go Luke's daughter route with another "I am your father" in the second part of the trilogy.

Maybe, but unlikely. Rebels can really only end on a down note. I wouldn't expect Ezra to last long enough past ANH to have a daughter who's in her early 20s by TFA.

Kylo was pretty powerful with the force being able to read minds and force push/pull from a pretty big distance and stop blaster shots midair. He just sucked at lightsabers. Haha.
Like people have said, it was his injuries that slowed him down. And I think he was toying with Finn feeding off his fear; he probably enjoyed playing the monster.

Rey is her actual name, but we'll find out her last name next. You don't brand your main character and then change her name halfway through the series.

Another general Star Wars question. I was under the impression that you had to be a force user to ignite a lightsaber. Is that true or is that just a point I'm remembering from Spaceballs (I see your Schwartz is as big as mine...)?

Just wondering if Finn has the potential to follow after Rey and become a Jedi or he's just a brave / stupidly courageous guy for taking on Kylo.

Kylo seemed like a puppy and a novice in the force. It seemed to me they intentionally made him as far from Darth Vader as possible. He isnt imposing, his anger/rage seemed impotent and his force skills are really rough and fully drawn from emotion(aka his lightsaber is who he is). He wasn't trained in a discernible way or for very long. Also the way he was shot was not POWERFUL. He isn't much bigger than Rey in any of the shots. They are either going to turn him next movie or just fuck his shit up to make him a threat. I wont be surprised if the next time he lights up his saber it is a smoother more focused blade.

IM really digging the fact they made lightsabers mean something again.

I'm with you. I'll eat everyones fucking hat if Luke is the father. It isn't happening. I'm doubling down on Rey being no one besides a quite powerful ex-student at Luke's academy. Kylo/Ben is the Skywalker bloodline in this trilogy.
Kylo and Rey are siblings, or cousins (one of them Luke's kid, the other Han's/Leia's kid).

That is what makes Kylo such an awesome character and a great villain. He is kind of a loser.

His path to the dark side seems to come from insecurity. What do you bet, we get a back story where he and another guy are fighting over a girl, the girl chooses the other guy and Kylo kills them both... Adam Driver gave an awesome, nuanced performance.

I know we all think Rey beings Luke's daughter is too obvious. But it is because we have seen 6 movies where the main protagonist is related/family of a skywalker. If 1-6 didnt exist then no one would be speculating that she is his daughter and we would all be shocked when they reveal she is. But since the saga is about the skywalker family and seems to repeat itself then I will assume she is either the cousin or daughter.

Its also very clear that there are lots of OTHER force sensitive people out there besides the skywalkers and Rey would also be a good way to introduce those lines since we know Luke took a bunch of students in. So it will be interesting to see how it pans out. I have no doubt Kylo Knows Rey from way back when and Rey was mind wiped. Also whoever mind-wiped Rey could have also done the same to Han/Leia to protect her completely.

It felt like a JJ abram's version of a Star Wars movie. Obviously he had some directives from Disney but it seemed like a waste to bring in the writer from ESB to write this film only to have JJ abrams completely rewrite the entire thing, and by "rewrite" I mean take the script from ANH and replace Obi-wan with "Han", Luke with "rey", Han with "Finn", and call it a day. Like I said, it's better than the prequels but worse than any of the OT. it's a solid 4.5/10 where i'd rank jedi at 6/10. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. It was "Meh". Maybe if you like JJ abram's films you give it an extra point but that still just makes it a mediocre 5.5-6/10.
Exactly how I felt. In all honesty, it's almost a shot for shot remake of the original movie (only not nearly as good). Everyone bashes on the prequels (deservedly so), but at least they were original. I was leery when I heard that Abrams was going to do these movies, and my reservations were validated. There was a pretty cool story here, but I feel they just played it safe by putting in the death star and the attack on the death star for the third time. And how do you give ROTJ a 6/10? Even with the Ewoks, it's still at worst a 9/10.

Kylo Ren is a spoiled little bitch who grew up eating out of tin cans and forced to sleep on dirty mattresses all the while knowing he should be a King.

It's a very old story.

Rey is their 2nd child (or Luke's), who they sent away to prevent from going down the same path. If nothing else it's not a life for a kid especially if you were BORN Force Sensitive. It's clear the First Order wants to hunt down Skywalker and Solo and sending kids away is part of the Star Wars experience! But something happened, and the kid got sold away. Kylo sure as shit knew there was a girl out there. We'll have to wait to see what the truth is, but it makes a lot of sense to me.

I am kinda expecting part of the 20-30 mins of cut footage to include a bit more from Leia / the Resistance Base on the fallout of the Hosnian System being obliterated and making it clear that instead of the Resistance being a disavowed offshoot of the Republic they were now the only military the Republic had left... They do mention not having the fleet during the final battle, but in a way that suggested "the fleet is busy" rather than "the fleet doesn't exist anymore". On the second viewing you can clearly make out a lot of ships in orbit around Hosnian Prime prior to the blast wave hitting.

In many respects the First Order accomplished their main goal with the Starkiller Base by wiping out the Republic capitol. Losing the base right after was definitely not good from their point of view, but since the crux of their evil plan was already accomplished I don't think they are going to be all that bad off. Both sides will be militarizing as we begin Episode VIII and any major head-start that the Resistance had as the dominant power in the galaxy was taken off the board.

We don't know the First Order's power base.

Snoke didn't seem to care too much about the destruction of Starkiller Base. He basically just said go grab that brat, it's time to train him. My brother has a theory that Snoke has a huge fucking power base, and the Imperial Remnant came to him, he rebuilt them and sent them back to the Core. They failed. Now Snoke will invade with his actual forces.

Yeah, Starkiller Base was this movie's red goo bomb blowing up Vulcan. It tilts the ending of RotJ on its head with the Republic on its ass. Even if the FO is defeated in Ep 8, Starkiller Base actually succeeds where the Death Stars failed. The galaxy is in chaos.
