The whole point of the character of Kylo Ren WAS to show that he is Pee Wee Herman compared to Vader's Lecter..

All I'm saying is there are similarities between the characters, and Vader was not "epic badass" 100% of the time, just like Kylo Ren was not whiny 100% of the time. Characters that are one-dimensional are not very interesting anyway.

Yea I'm gonna have to agree with Runnen. Snope was one-dimensional and was kinda dumb. Rey was also pretty single-minded for a while and was boring for a good part of the movie. I like seeing actual character behind the dark side exterior. The Sith in the prequels come off as evil for the sake of evil and it wasn't great (I mean, for lots of reasons, but that too). Making it more complicated than Jedi = always good and Other = always bad is important.

I don't want an insecure, immature, and whiny pussy as the villain. If I wanted that I'd go watch Episode 3 again. The dude in the Vader suit was a master at conveying emotion through body language. Adam Driver may have nailed the role they wrote for him, but the role they wrote for him was total garbage.

Obviously not facial expressions with a mask on, but emotion can be apparent even through a mask depending on other factors, such as body language, head tilt, camera angle, lighting, etc.. Are you telling me Vader looks absolutely the same while he is strangling Admiral Ozzel and when he is looking at Luke drop to his doom?
Yes. Please post a clip of what you're talking about, because I'm pretty sure you're attributing foresight and retroactive context to something that wasn't there.

I honestly thought the first seen with Kylo he seemed more badass than Vader ever was, but it went downhill fast once he removed his mask.

I admit, suspending the blaster bolt in midair instead of just reflecting it was pretty amazing.

And that in itself bothered me too because right out the gate you saw that and you were like "WOAH WTF THIS DUDE MUST BE LEGIT!!!"

Then an hour later you see...no, not so much, he's an emo kid with daddy issues.

I like how many of the same people who bemoaned the derivative qualities of TFA are bitching about its single biggest departure from the OT.

I loved Ren in this. He's not Vader 2, he's what Anakin should have been had Lucas known how to direct actors. Whether the character ultimately ends up being a success or not will really depend on the next two movies.

Finally saw this. It was good but not great. Very paint-by-numbers.

Finn was way better than I expected, but my expectations were extremely low. Mary Rey Sue sucked.

I'm glad they didn't go with too much silly shit.

Vader had depth. He had a shit ton of depth through all three original movies. Kylo Ren is the new vader for the gayer, weaker, pussier generation. It's science. If you'd take your nerd glasses off for just a second and watch the movie objectively, you'd notice it immediately.

Please give an example of Vader's "depth" from A New Hope
