I'm all for new stories but as of now we have this guy who has been introduced as old and seemingly powerful. He's been around doing nothing during the rise and fall of a galactic super power? If he's not tied in somehow it'll be lame imo. It's just dropping in random super villains. I doubt it's anakin though.
There are themes here though that stretch back into distant history. Maz talking about eyes and living for a thousand years. Snoke talking about similar stretches of history and time. There is talk about seeing rise and fall of things as a theme. I think we'll see a glimpse of the old republic and other times to answer these questions which just lenda itself to establishing history and settings for new movies.
It'll end up being some kind of connection that satisfies nerds but it's not so tied in that confuses casual fans or is evenbpicked up by them.

Haven't read the whole argument and really don't care that much, but as a casual-ish fan of the franchise I gotta agree that having Snoke just be some random dude who comes out of nowhere because reasons would be stupid. Despite the awful name, having him be Plagueis would be cooler than any of the alternatives I've seen.

Disney will want to continue SW forever, so at some point they're going to have to introduce new, never before seen villains. Will that be stupid then?
I don't think anyone is arguing that new villains are impossible or that they are bad ideas. It's just hard to imagine that they are creating an all powerful force user that is very old and has watched the rise and fall of the empire that never showed up at all during the last century of the Republic/Empire cycle. That's why a lot of nerds are searching for ways to tie him into the current lore.
It's easy enough to create a new general or some other villain with a back story. Just look at Thrawn. Context matters.

It wouldn't be terrible for him to be Plagueis. We're just sick of woolygimp's unstoppable retardation about it being 100% confirmed that Snoke is Plagueis.

It's early yet to know Snoke's backstory and how extensive it will end up being. It don't have a problem with the notion of him watching things unfold from some remote area of the galaxy and letting his rivals take each other down before moving to fill the void that is left in the wake. If he ends up being Plagueis that's fine but I would prefer to see them start expanding the lore out from what has already been established. At some point they have to start laying the groundwork for that on the movie side of things.

No, what's obvious is that the temperature required to melt his helmet would well exceed the temperature that would only result in superficial scars on his flesh.
Your whole argument here is that you aren't creative or imaginative enough to come up with an interesting story as to how Snoke seemingly came out of nowhere, so that story must be impossible

Yeah, isn't the assumption that Anakin's body disappeared like Yoda's and Obi Wan's? Since he shows up as a force ghost he must have known how to become one with the force upon death like those two, so he would have faded out the same way. It just would have been offscreen in this instance.

Qui-Gonn did not disappear and was cremated. Anakin's body was in the armor.
I'm not 100%, I guess that was a bit of hyperbole. The similarity of themes, all of the "Wise" references, his appearance, the level of assumed power, his age, and the fact that there really isn't any logical reason for them not to use Plagueis makes it very unlikely he's a new character. I mean Khan wasn't in Star Trek: Into Darkness, right?
Vader was 2.03m tall. Basically just shy of seven foot tall. Plagueis was also very tall.
Man, I just don't know. See what some of you are forgetting is that for there to be a very powerful villain, he had to have a very powerful master. So the Jedi didn't have ANY inclination as to another set of powerful Dark Side users (other than the Sith) for the thousand years under Yoda's stewardship? When Maul died, it wasn't like, "oh well he's a Dark Side user.", they were absolutely convinced that he was a Sith, period.

For god's sake. It was directly stated in Champions of the Force that Luke saw Anakin's body fade away. Similarly, Mara Jade's body didn't fade away until several hours after her death. Even if those books aren't canon anymore, there's no reason to assume differently unless they explicitly come out and say his body was on the pyre in a new source. Qui-Gon had not mastered the power of turning into a force ghost, which is why he can't physically manifest, only speak.
What you keep willfully ignoring since it blows a giant whole in your deluded conviction is that dark side traditions other than the Sith are canon. Snoke is not Sith and there is no reason to jump to the conclusion that he is formerly Sith. The Jedi were well aware of the existence of the Witches of Dathomir, but didn't interfere with them. The Sith are directly opposed to the Jedi, so it was entirely reasonable for Qui-Gon to assume that a dark side user showing up out of nowhere and trying to kill him was a Sith.
