It will get "fixed" after Disney gets their billion number.

Friday numbers are back. Pulled 3.92 on Friday.

In holdover box office news for Friday, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker earned $3.92 million on its fourth Friday, bringing its 22-day domestic total up to $467 million.

Updated total

Legs in 4th week are TLJ level, improved by 1%. So this same time period in the run of TLJ, TLJ performed 1% less better than Rise.

64% drop compared to a 65% drop from TLJ.

Basically, the run is almost over. They're banking on Saturday or Martin Luther King weekend to push it to 1b.

I think Saturday is unlikely to push to 1b, and it will need a shot in the 5th week at Martin Luther King weekend.

If it hasn't made 1b by January 20th, its never happening.

Meanwhile with Endgame the discussion was if it would make 2b.

Disney must be looking at this as a gigantic failure even if it's profitable, they are getting out half as many movies as they thought at half the box office.

Really the final movie of a trilogy of trilogies with a prominent position in pop culture should be matching Marvel's C Teir Superheroes nobody cared about until 10 years ago.

At least they can honestly use the tag line "See the movie everybody is talking about" as long as they don't go into WHY they're all talking...

Martin Luther King weekend then in the 5th weekend. Unless the legs are completely broken it should be able to draw 11m worldwide.

Will close just over 1b.

Star wars is done from my perspective, but it is certainly entertaining a large audience even today and everyone still buys tickets because of the brand. I won't ever buy a ticket to another star wars movie, after the Remake of Episode IV ( TFA ) i was done.

I think the Christmas release is a big part of it, there's been a big budget franchise movie at Christmas for years now to take your kids to when you have time off work.

Like a Hobbit or a Fantastic Beasts or a Star Wars, all of which are fallen franchises but still get modest but dissapointing profits at that time of year. We got Avatar coming in soon to take this slot.

There's still a chance. Will check the TLJ % 5th week later to determine how much chance.

Probably very small-- and there's always week 6. But don't give up hope yet.

Analysts generally agree Rise would have been a box office disaster without the Christmas bow.

I'm talking 850m end run.

Nerdrage.
Yeah yeah. I know it's been a minute ... or twelve. But this is just a complete, self-contained drive-by. I watched this and immediately thought to myself "those assholes over at FOH would probably love this". And then thought what the fuck, just share it.

I'm not gonna wade through all the shitposting and just assume that at least some of you are aware of the George Lucas deepfakes from a couple of months ago. Well this is the same guy doing the impersonation of George they apply the deepfake over. Enjoy.

Would be a good time for a Royal comeback-- Disney could use a little help.

P.S. Solo re-shoot wasn't just some "set-ups and pick-ups" they missed during shooting. lol

I had to. Sorry Royal I love you.

Same. Glad I didn't spend money on anything after that. Didn't even bother to torrent TJL, Solo or ROS.

In what amounts to the most shocking twist in Star Wars history, Colin Trevorrow’s script for Episode IX was better than the version J.J. Abrams gave us—on paper, at least. A breakdown of the script, co-written by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, appeared on Reddit overnight at r/StarWarsLeaks, which has a surprisingly sound track record with regard to, well, Star Wars leaks. (Major plot points from The Rise Of Skywalker, along with a pair of screenshots from the film’s climax, appeared in the subreddit months prior to its release.) While neither Disney nor Trevorrow have commented on the leak, we’ve spoken with another source who was able to independently confirm the legitimacy of the Trevorrow-Connolly script.

According to the breakdown, which originates on YouTube, Trevorrow’s Episode IX was titled Duel Of The Fates (actually a very good title!) and his last draft was written in December 2016, about a week before the passing of Carrie Fisher. Though certain plot points could have changed during production or through reshoots, Trevorrow and Connolly’s story seems far more compelling than The Rise Of Skywalker. In their version, Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico is given a much larger role and spends a good portion of the film with Finn, C-3PO, and R2-D2 on a mission to light a beacon on Coruscant that will draw allies to assist the Resistance in their final battle against the First Order. Meanwhile, Rey, Poe, and Chewbacca head to a distant planet to find answers that may help Rey figure out what to do about this whole (gestures wildly) situation.

This does not compute, it's better but has more Rose???

I think that when you strip away everything about the prequels there are some good themes present like you mentioned with the sith hiding in plain sight, and the jedi council's attempt to control backfiring on them. But it was just executed so horrendously badly, and all the actual supporting storylines and plot are garbage. The new movies, I started to go through and pick out themes that I think worked well and could have been expanded on with a quality storyline, but who cares, shit is fucked. The difference, like you pointed out, is that they are executed so well, but the plot is such garbage, and even the themes are garbage. Such frustration.

Yeah, the new movies are a complete reversal of the prequels in terms of issues.

Prequels: Excellent ideas. Shit execution.

Sequels: Shit ideas. Excellent execution.

I think overall the issue with the sequels is that they very much are frankenstein monsters. You get this terrible waft of too many cooks in the kitchen, until no real vision comes through with them and given everything we know about the "story group"--well, it makes sense.
