Those star trek movies were better than the TNG movies. Captain Picard the Last Action Hero was truly, truly awful. And they kept making more after that one!

They weren't very good start trek movies, but they were decent just as movies. If you had just renamed the characters and not done the fandom taint licking they would have been even better.

The first five OS Movies were better. I liked the one where they went to the center of the galaxy and talked to God. And asked him why he needs a Starship. Lol. That's about as cheesy, and about as star trek, as you can GET. Roddenbery had a special kind of vision that I enjoy, but it was not exactly a subtle vision.

65% of critics disliked Dave Chappelle's latest special. You really want to keep playing the mob mentality game? It's so easy to poke holes.

Again, I'm saying your comparison is not valid. It's insulting that people should happily gobble up the JJ Star Trek movies just because they were better than the TNG movies. They can be better(they are, for the most part...Into Darkness borders on being just as shitty) and still be bad movies themselves.

I'm not necessarily looking to get into an objective review of all three JJ Star Treks in this thread, that would be too much of a derail.

Thats because of todays politics more than anything. Does nto discredit critics and viewers and ST movies which are pretty much apolitical.

IMO Star Wars as a franchise ended with Return of the Jedi back in 1983.

Imagine if no other movies came out after A New Hope. Would have been a perfect cult classic. Empire was amazing. Jedi was good. The adjectives just get worse and worse from there.

Half of the group I invited declined, straight up boycott despite of a free ticket, one even unfriended me on fb. I got half a front row of tickets for sale now. Some people take this way, waaaay to seriously.

This is the best analysis. The movie was entertaining to watch as long as I was not expecting Star Trek. Because it wasn't Star Trek. It was Star Wars in Star Trek skin.

I mean, I'm not even sure what we should care about in the film? That's the problem. Even if it was a technical masterpiece, I just don't care about any of the characters. I don't even care enough to dislike them.

Honestly the only character in the last 4 Star Wars films that was even mildly interesting was the fucking droid in Rogue 1. I actually enjoyed him, a lot. He's the only character I remember from that film. None of the rest of these people are interesting at all.

i think the only person's story arc i cared about in the disney star wars series was Finn. i actually was curious about his backstory and how he became a stormtrooper and his development from mindless killing machine to agent of good. they gave Rey, Poe or Kylo no such character development. they are right now exactly who they were when this all started. Johnson turned Finn into a comedy relief and a fucking coward. i dont blame him for being salty at KK and RJ. this was his chance to become the star of the series and they told him to fuck off because the Force is Female. i liked Poe too, but they didnt give him a chance to develop to the Han Solo he was meant to be. never liked rey or kylo, but i think that was just due to miscasting.

Kylo was cool as hell until he took his helmet off. I wanted to like him but fuck they turned him into a whiney cunt. He could have been a great successor to Vader.
