I find it hilarious Naniwa has been playing SC2 again only for about a month or so and just entered the WCS EU qualifier and won it. The dude is such a dick but he's so fucking good at this game.

There's a reason he was fighting for the top foreigner spot against Stephano most of his career and let's just say the playing field is not exactly stacked. Not playing may have actually been an advantage, because nobody has a clue what builds is he playing, unless people found out all of his smurfs. The guy is legit.

Stephano could probably pull off the same thing, it wouldn't even be the first time in his case.

Naniwa was playing on his well known barcode so people knew what he was doing. I didn't see too many of his games but I didn't see anything that much out of the ordinary.

Well, that's the only way forward since they refuse to unfuck the economy by letting it go beyond 3 bases and making gases infinite again.

They also have to address some glaring stupidity, like Colossi being mandatory in every matchup, protoss losing to muta balls because they can only be hardcountered, warpgate favoring offense 99% of the time, corruptors being a unit nobody ever likes to make

In theory I think the LOTV economy changes are pretty cool. If it works in practice we'll see. I especially like how they made it so you can strip out 4 nodes quickly and 4 nodes are larger (this is a change they made after Blizzcon.) So it isn't just take base -> MULE to death -> move on. It sounds like the game is becoming harder to play with a stronger emphasis on micromanagement of your army while also increasing the macromanagement of your economy workload as well. Which should allow for truly great players to win consistently.

I wonder if they'd consider making the macro a touch easier by having a button on the CC so you can select oversaturated workers. Instead of quickly running the math of needing to select X number to send elsewhere. May be a nice QOL change.

That's not really new and exciting way to play for protoss :p

I really hope they pull of something new and exciting with the last unit, because throwing your hands up in the air makes you look REALLY inept. Bring back Dark Archons, Reavers, anything that isn't made from gateways and makes some of the disliked staples of every deathball unnecessary.

Personally, the number of workers on my base is enough, some quick math is all you need.

I think the deathball already is being broken up in this expansion. Zerg gets those dudes that shoot shit into the sky and Terran get AOE bio units.

Yeah, well, that's what people thought about HotS as well. Sure at the top end it might be different, but if managing your macro is more important to the outcome of the game, your army management will suffer and therefore it will revert to the dreaded 1a.

From looking at the Blizzcon build and games it looks like the game may allow you to focus mostly on micro if that is your desire. Right now that is not the case even in the least. I also don't remember people thinking HotS was bringing down the deathball. I remember far more people being vocal that it was doing the exact opposite with the addition of Hellbat, Tempest and SH.

I think everybody was too excited that the broodlord/infestor finally died. There were some hopes with oracles being mostly effective on their own, widow mine drops and viper or tempests making the defender move around and react.

Thought Blizzard still mentioned they are working on another unit for protoss as well. LOTV looks awesome and will definitely spark my interest again. I probably won't play ladder, but I'll at least watch a ton of games for a couple months before I get sick of seeing Overgrowth for the 10000th time. *cough*

LOTV is awesome but Blizzard honestly needs to change out the entire map pool every season, or at least like 75% of it (maybe only keeping 2 of the maps or so) or else the casual base just gets bored. Shit, only reason I want to watch GSL is to see games on Iron Fortress, other then that I really have no motivation to watch the game until at least Ro8...if not Ro4.

In the latest LOTV update they did state they're working on another unit for Protoss. I can only imagine it will be gimmicky and easily proxied.

Reavers that shoot mechanized banelings up cliffs with air vision, hardened shields, and blink.
