The CF / UC SysDef quest line is definitely the quest line I'd tell people to do before deciding whether they liked Starfield or not.
I've still got the final mission to do, and have just been saving it while pursuing other things, building ships, etc. It's definitely one of the best quest lines. Figure I'll finish sometime this weekend after I progress the main story a bit more.

Finished the FC line last night, and it was OK, but not near as good as CF. UC is great though and I still have a few more in that to do as well. Finding it's been nice as I've said before to bounce between things. Really helps with the pace of the overall game, and you always feel there's something exciting around the corner, which is normally true. Not so much with the FC line as I found out yesterday.

it would be a thousand times better if the companions just didn't say shit unless you specifically address them

What, no way. I love being in my ship workshop and having the annoying little brat asking me about books and saying her dad's ship smells worse in a 15 second dialog trigger.

And I'm initiating a grab jump, some pirates show up and start attacking, so I try to power down the grav drive. It doesn't cancel it, just won't jump until I power it back up, and meanwhile I'm trying to kill an enemy ship without any hud or aim assist. If you get hailed as a grav jump is powering up it can be cancelled. If you get attacked it can't be cancelled and then you don't have a HUD to defend yourself so are basically forced to jump.

Later I land on a planet trying to care about survey shit, a ship lands, I board it, sit in the seat, but don't take off or make it my home ship because not interested. 45 minutes later I'm leaving a cave and get the message "this is now your home ship." Errr what now. Yep, made the ship I sat in the pilot chair my home ship for no good reason.

So many bizarre little things that are inexplicably and objectively bad. Not sure if they're were just not capable of testing the game as gamers, or just aren't even gamers anymore.

It has been mentioned before, but the companion random dialogues triggering while something else important is being said is annoying as fuck. Like data slates, if you tab out it continues to play while you run around and loot stuff, but your fucking companion will randomly talk over it. If you stay in the data slate screen it is fine, but who wants to stare at the screen doing nothing while someone talks? We already do enough of that in game. Which brings me to another pet peeve. The "walk with me while I explain shit" crap. In regular dialogue at least I can skip through it as soon as I read it, not waiting for them to finish speaking. But with the follow me missions you are literally stuck just slowly edging along with them and listening to their shit, no way to speed it up at all. I sigh out loud every time it happens.

The Ranger on Neon does the walk and talk during the Freestar faction chain, and he's having his chat interrupted MID SENTENCE by him opening a loading door to the next zone if you don't physically block him or stop him so he can finish yapping. Did anyone test this fucking quest chain?

I've also had to use elevators or zone change load screens about 8 times now to fix NPCs who were floating through the ceiling or dropping through the floor that I had to talk to. One of them required a reload of a previous save to get to a prior zone in order to reset him. You can't simply save and reload, it saves their Z axis coordinates or something so they remain extremely bugged/unreachable.

I ended up pick pocketing the syndicate guy outside the Neon warehouse while he was floating 3' above the hvac ducting on the side of the roof of the warehouse.

I had an annoying bug that I *think* was due to giving Andreja a piece of gear with Camouflage on it. Whenever I stealth, she does too obviously, and that was never a problem before. But after giving her that gear, it was like she would go invisible twice, once from Stealth and once from Camo, so when she stood up and walked around like normal she'd still be in Predator mode. The only way to fix it (besides save and reload) was to have her change from inside to outside (or vice versa) so she put on or took off her spacesuit, but then her neck and head would still be camo'd.

While having an invisible girlfriend seems awesome at first, it got annoying because I would keep seeing her out of the corner of my eye as just a distortion in the air and it was fucking with me. Had to give her something else to wear instead. Which reminds me that clothes in this game (for the PC and companions) are pretty uninspiring. Not that I want to play Barbie's, but with a game with so many other things, why is every outfit fucking uninspired? I wear some UC body armor or some shit just because the stats are decent and it doesn't look horrible, but 90% of the "casual" outfits look fucking retarded. And the suits, except for one that is just black slacks and white shirt (I guess no one wears suit jackets in the future?), are weird styles and again not inspiring.

The Striker gang gear you get from the Striker vendor on Neon isn’t too bad. I usually run around in Ryujin stealth operator gear unless I need persuasion buffs otherwise

I'm still trying to find the UC Navy Armored Fatigues that gives +5% reload speed and also has 25 phys def. I've got a different one with the reload effect but it has useless defenses.

No updates at the vendor at the secret Mars research base? He is still there near the autopsy tables downstairs even after you beat the Vanguard questline

Yep, had that all throughout my current playthrough with her. Constantly invisible inside her suit or non suit wear.

Is it possible to boot everyone's annoying ass off my ship except for Vasco? Is it just the assign crew menu that does that? Because if seems like everyone is always on my ship no matter where I assign them too.

I just want to dump everyone on a remote moon outpost and leave them there to bitch at each other. Vasco and I will handle the stars.

Yeah the crew option when you hit tab and just unassign everyone if you want no one on your ship or following you around.

Kind of shocked there isn't a volume option for companions, or be able to mute them. I got rid of Cole and his daughter asap, because holy shit did they just yap and yap all day when on my ship.

I still feel a bit bad about just sending Lin and Heller to a shithole moon for the entire game, with no habitat, just a hundred storage crates and a few dozen factories

Soo anyone have their mission NPC's just float away into space? lol. Went to a mission giver and hit E while he was doing his pre-quest jabbering. All of a sudden he just started floating up.. and up... through the roof of the space station. I went outside and sure enough he was out there going off into space apparently.

Not yet, but I’ve had annoying soft locks where the NPC moves slow and your dialogue tree options are invisible

Hah, that's it! I'm guessing she had a piece of armor with camo on it. Like I said I got rid of that bug by making sure she didn't have that bonus trait.

All the time. You have to exit and re-enter the area to get them to respawn and reset their z-axis.

Now, getting the Neon ship services guy to show up is a different matter...
