You can probably just copy and save those save files elsewhere and then place them back afterwards. It will definitely uninstall the game, dunno if it'll wipe the saves too.

Unless it's changed recently, it does not delete any files, just removes the game from your library. Play button gets replaced with Add to Cart, and buying it again immediately should just force a file scan and then be playable again immediately.

That's more than two weeks ago though, so they may turn you down.

The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store.
Sometimes they do make exceptions though.

Yeah, I'm aware of the policy, but if they have any brains behind it they'll honor this. Otherwise it's just scheduling shenanigans to get around the 14 day window, and that shit pisses me the fuck off. I'll riot, I swear!

I'm not looking for a full refund, I just want the $4.50 difference. I even suggested they just credit me that to my wallet in the request, so we'll see what happens. Any retail store would honor this sort of thing.

yeah your playtime has to be less than 2 hours too

Humble Bundle is up too, a bunch of Square Enix games like Tomb Raider1-3, Murdered Soul Suspect, Last Remnant. Seems to be kinda shitty though, like only episode 1 of life is strange and FF14:ARR (MMO with sub) and a coupon for 20% off Just Cause 3 instead of the game. In a year they will do another SE bundle and include all the 2015 games
Humble Square Enix Bundle 3 (pay what you want and help charity)

The $1 tier is worth it just for TLR. Or Life Is Strange if you're on the fence about whether or not you'll like the game. Murdered was the most disappointing game I played last year, but somehow it's "Very Positive" on Steam reviews so I guess some people out there do enjoy it.

Yeah, all you're going to see is the equivalent of non-flash-deal prices in previous sales. Nobody wants to put up a really deep discount for a full 14 days, but that's the only choice Steam is giving them this year.

Only game I bought is Killer Is Dead, and at -80% that's a good deal, but it's still just the same price it was the last 4 times it went on sale.

Seems like the ITAD scan has completed, so here's the full list of games on sale at a new historical lowest price:IsThereAnyDeal.com

Or if you want to see games that are at their historical low, but have already been at that price before (not necessarily just at Steam):IsThereAnyDeal.com

So they tell us.

Honestly can't see this being a good way to get interest in the sale but then again, publishers may have been pushing back against the sales in general. Too many are willing to wait these days after all. Weird though given how many additional sales they have brought in past years.

Yeah, this Winter Sale pretty much sucks. I am going to pick up Magicka 2 the Deluxe edition for $9.99 and Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY for $4.99

Had Magicka 2 on my wish list for awhile and I need Arkham Asylum in my Steam Library, I originally played it on console.

Other than those two, nothing is really jumping out at me with these prices.

I'm in a strange place where I own/have played all the games I wanted to leading up to this season. And the games I'm mildly interested in aren't on sale. So uh, grats GabeN on not getting any money from me for the first time in like a decade? Flash sales really made me spend my fuckyou money without thinking about it at all. Now, with just averaged prices? Not interested.

That's a good thing really, means you don't have to wait the entire sale to buy whatever game you want to see if it's on a daily/flash, and instead just buy your shit.
I like the change. Fuck waiting just to see if a game I wanna buy will get an even bigger discount. And especially fuck missing out on a better price because I was too late to check Steam that day.
I hated the flash/daily sale system. It made it so I never wanted to buy anything NOT on the flash or daily which is counter to what a sale should do which is generate sales. So if I missed out I just wouldn't buy the title.
Yup, same for me. I'd end up waiting for a "better" deal, it'd never come, and I'd just end up not purchasing the game at all.
Although I did like the aspect of finding out what the new discounts were everyday, I think I like it better this way. At least you know up front what's on sale and you have the entire length of the sale to buy what you want with no surprises. It'll be curious if they are doing their little games again and if there is going to be any incentives since sales always tied to them before.
Well. Where's the praise now?

Is everyone supposed to come derail this thread for 20 pages arguing about the pros and cons of flash sales and daily deals? I am in favor of just having the sale be the sale, too, for many of the reasons you quoted from other people.

If you have kids the "Humongous Entertainment Complete Pack" is half off. It has 35 games from the Putt Putt, Freddie Fish, Pajama Sam etc series. First time I recall ever seeing it on sale so snagged it for my girls. It seems like 90+% of it this year are retro indie games I've never heard of and old ass Acclaim properties from the N64 era like Turok selling for way more then they should be.
