As an FYI, unless you're playing with mods that edit the rewards, Operation Slingshot drastically reduces the difficulty of the game.

*edit*

Also, if you don't opt to start Slingshot in place of the very first council mission, you never get another chance to start it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they drop Civ5 pretty low to entice ppl to pick up the new expansion pack. Which, btw, I'm really liking so far.

I enjoyed it. the missing link DLC is stand-alone and not very good, but the main game was very enjoyable and did a good job of capturing the Deus Ex feel.

Legend of Grimrock up for ?3,50 for the next 4 hours still. It's hard to find a genre that it would fit in these days since there haven't really been games of this style since the 1990s. It's an oldschool dungeon crawler and would be a great (re-)introduction to the genre. It really captured the atmosphere of the old games and doesn't have any stupid kiddie shit added like so many new games nowadays.

Difficulty of the missions or difficulty of the shit in between? I really enjoyed the actual gameplay of X-COM, but I found the base building and research stuff to be so damn tedious that it killed my enjoyment of the game.

Well, the first Slingshot mission rewards you with a Captain level heavy, the third mission (which happens immediately after the second) puts you inside an undamaged battleship (that's populated with aliens appropriate to your current progress in the campaign). Upon completing it, you get an assload of alloys, fragments, and elerium along with two fusion cores. You get so much surplus elerium and shit that you can easily sell it for tons of extra income.

Are there any good games that would provide some multiplayer fun for 3-4 people on sale or that might be on sale? Not even sure what we are looking for at this point in terms of genre just something fun where we can quickly smash the shit out of each other. The best example I can think of is something Fuzion Frenzy-esque but it doesn't have to be limited to that style. I also have fond memories of playing tag in Midnight Club freeplay.
Worms Armageddon is on sale for $7.50. Those are crazy fun multiplayer.

Disclaimer: I have Worms: Reloaded and I love it, but I haven't actually played Armageddon myself.

Terraria is still a fun game that you can put 20-30 hours into even if you ignore the co-op and building aspects, beyond the bare minimum required to get NPCs in your house and craft yourself good equipment.

It was a lot of fun and had a great atmosphere (great music especially). The story was interesting as well. I did a stealth playthrough on hard and while that was fun, it is pretty ridiculous how simple the stealth mechanics are. If there are two guys next to each other and one is six inches behind the other you can take him out with a chokehold without the other guy ever noticing. Or you can straight up murder a guy and know there's someone only 30 yards away from you looking in your direction with clear line of sight that pays no attention to it. Still, very worth the playthrough -- even two if you want to see all the possibilities for story branches.

Biggest problems with DXHR are the retarded and wholly out of place boss fights that were outsourced to some shitty third party dev, and the ending which is just as poorly done as ME3's.

Definitely get the Missing Link DLC too if you buy it. It's completely standalone, but I suggest playing through it at the correct point in the story. Only downside to it is that it will leave you wondering why they whole game wasn't done as well as the DLC.

Explosive Mission Pack DLC is good too, the mission is fun and the items it adds are spread naturally throughout the game. Don't buy the Tactical one unless you're getting the Deus Ex pack and can't avoid it; it's pure cheater DLC that just gets dumped on you at the start of a new game and the weapons suck anyway.

I'm personally hoping Rogue Legacy has a huge deal - demo has been a blast, and I understand that it's QUITE fractional of the whole - I just can never bring myself to pay full price for indie stuff however. (And yes, I know it's 20% off ATM - hoping it goes deep like they do almost every big Steam sale for indies)
