OT, yes the newspaper being a room full of dudes all shitting on her for being a woman was over the top by a significant margin.

She wasn't the only woman in the office. Seems like they only fucked with her, but it was all centered around her being 12 and not really a reporter but wanting to be, in a room full of people who've been doing it for a billion years and, apparently, a culture that doesn't promote mentorship or whatever. It could have been a decent storyline but it got like no play, just Jake Busey's teeth cackling at the screen and mocking the chick.

I am with Chaos mostly on this, the issue being displayed by the show was that this free thinking girl was trying to edge into this all male room.

The disconnect is that if some dude walked into the room and fucked up the lunch order and then tried to give their opinion on what the paper should run, they would be laughed out of the room in the same way.

Nancy was such a letdown from the writers, they could have made her into such a better character. As is she's just a boring white girl (as her totally gay and not at all straight boyfriend points out in their car-ride) that is basically looking for strife. She could have been the go-to girl for figuring shit out since she's "The Older Sister" figure in the show.

Totally agree with that. They wanted to do the plucky, young girl <insert job, usually investigative> gets sassed by "the man" but uncovers wild shit trope. They could have done much better with it. I think that's a cool idea to explore and subvert similar to how they have subverted other common tropes reminiscent of the 80s, and I think that Nancy is actually cool and charismatic enough to pull that off, they just dropped the ball. Weakest part of the season, for me.

I wasn't head over heals with this season but damn I didn't read that much into it either.

The stupid newspaper board room dude bros were way over the top, but I think that was more overplaying the small town hero douchebag trope than anything. However, I absolutely hate Nancy and Jonathan. Their journey was interesting in season 1 despite both characters being shitty. Season 2 was ok only because of Murray. This season they had nothing but their own personalities which are both shit, so it sucked, and it accounted for a significant chunk of the play time. And yeah the whole fertilizer thing kind of being a nothing burger just made it worse.

Hopper and Joyce is the same way. Nothing about it screamed anything overt, they just tried to make them Starsky and Hutch, and they have always been the grown ups in the room (mainly Hopper), and this season they were more goofy. I don't think it was intended for Hopper to be a useful idiot. I just think they were trying to dial up the funny, since Steve and Dustin were funny and it was a huge success. However, it ended just appearing forced to me.

While I pointed out the memory loss on how gays were viewed in the 80's I think the uproar over Robin coming out to Steve is a stretch. Yeah entertainment has gotten nigh unwatchable in the last decade or so due to shoving progressive stack bullshit down our throats, but this show is absolutely not an example of it. That scene in question was as someone else said: Steve just sucks ass at women and that moment kept his streak active. But really, if this was "SJW shit," and if it stayed at this level, you'd never hear a word of complaint from me.

I assumed the fertilizer was made from that upside down infused dirt that was making all the crops rot last season.

I thought they were doppelgangers and the real versions were comatose at the mill. A human eating fertilizer would probably kill them dead pretty quick.

Sad the hot lifeguard chick died. Oh well. Mediocre season. This series needs to wrap up with season 4.

I dunno I thought last season was pretty good. Teaser is no surprise at all.

Last season was the best season. Hopefully they stay on track

First season was the best but I don't get the Season 3 hate. Thought it was better than the second season.

Every season has been at the very least "good" - just dont fuck it up!

I liked the first season the best, but none of them are bad. Second season had the worst single episode though.

I liked season 3 more than season 1. Season 1 was weaponized nostalgia done extremely well, while season 3 built upon all the character and story development from the first 2 seasons.

As a 1 season story, season 1 is perfect. Season 3 builds upon the world to make a really great season of television.

My issues with Season 3 were how poorly they handled the character development for Hopper and Steve. They were both heavily 'Flanderized'.
