yes, and its especially weird when they replaced him with a different geeky sidekick, who acts and looks exactly like you would expect Jimmy Olsen, with Toyman.
Which is even weirder again, when you realize her not-gay geeky sidekick best friend, who is not Jimmy Olsen, is the crazy supervillian Toyman.
I don't know where the writers are going with this. Or why they would do this.
its weird and lame imho. The Flash only barely gets away with it imho, because they eventually introduce the multiverse, so Caitlynn not being Killer frost makes the namesake ok. sortof.
but why here? will they also introduce a multiverse, and have him as Toyman? or are they going for the incredibly lame, "friendzoned" best friend goes bad? or just a random namedrop? I mean, same applies to James Olsen.. again why? if the character has NOTHING in common with Jimmy... why call him that at all? He could have been Vick stone pre cyborg, Micheal Holt- Mr. Terrific(now on Arrow), or John Irons-Steel. All 3 would have fit easily. They all know Superman intimately, all 3 prototypical attractive confidant black men. And that is assuming, you don't just make up a character.
Stealing the ID of a pre-established character doesn't help representation at all. Look at Diggle in arrow. totally made up character. He is now appearing in the comics though.
