Intropy, there are very little videos on this. Can you confirm pinch zoom, and finger rotation in Photoshop?
Does pen touch work on the menu bars?

Also have you tried manga studio 5? could you also confirm the same in that program.

I've been using Photoshop exclusively with the stylus which works very well, including all the menu bars, its basically exactly the same experience as using the Wacom on a desktop computer. As far as I can tell though, Photoshop does NOT support touch input with your fingers. If I try to manipulate the canvas with my fingers it just sort of glitches out and zooms all the way in. There might be some way to configure touch support, but so far it hasn't been necessary since the pen works so well.

I'm not familiar with manga studio 5.

You're comparing it to the Cintiq correct?

I'm looking for something portable with a Cintiq like experience. The Companion is just way to big, and I'm still on the fence on the pro.
Might just buy one, and test it out.

You should test drive Manga Studio 5 on the free trial, it's so much better then photoshop now for traditional art tools.
They also support tablets unlike adobe.

BTW how is the battery life if you are just drawing in Photoshop?

Do you think the screen will stand up to a lot of stylus use or do you use a protector? TIA

I'd be curious if the pen even works at all with a screen protector. I have multiple Samsung Note products(Note 3 phone, Note 10.1 tablet) and they don't work for shit if you put a screen protector on the screen, the pen goes all wonky and glitchy.

The glass screen is actually better for pens then a textured screen like the wacom's have.

Allot of people purposely remove that screen on Wacom's because it wears down over time, and destroys there Stylus'es much too rapidly.

The glass seems great, obviously I haven't been using it too long, but its hard to imagine it wearing down or getting scratched by the pen.

Battery life is difficult to gauge since I haven't done any rigorous testing, and usually I'm switching between a lot of different applications in any given session, but I would think you could safely get a couple hours out of PS in any case.

During PAX this year, they talked about Manga Studio and PS on the original Surface. They said that a good portion of the comics they're doing for PA are now done mostly on the Surface Pro. When the Pro 2 was announced, it was given pretty positive reviews in one of their blog posts, and Gabe said he was going to be buying one immediately after testing one out.

I'd say that's a pretty good testimony if you're looking into creating comics in Manga Studio. I'll try to dig up the blog post again and edit it in here.

Edit: Here's the blog post -Penny Arcade - Surface Pro 2

I ordered one of the Dell Venue 11 Pros last week but it says it won't ship out for 3 more weeks. I want to play Steam games, Hearthstone and a flash based game called Cardhunter on it. I bought the base $500 version and didn't pony up for the I5. Do you guys think it will work ok for gaming or will I need to return it and pay double for a Surface Pro 2?

I ended up ordering the the 256 surface pro 2. Been looking for a new laptop, because my gaming one is pretty much too big to move around.

Hopefully I like it when it comes in

Has anyone had the chance to try out a Samsung Galaxy 3 (7.0), and a Nexus 7 (2013)? I am looking to get one or the other, my concerns are the audio quality of the Samsung vs. the Nexus (using good headphones), and the lack of a microSD slot on the Nexus.

My ipad's wifi stopped working. I was considering going big and getting a nice Windows Tablet but since it is just after Christmas (went kinda crazy over the budget, kids man kids) and I will be relocating my family a few states away in the next 60 days I think I am going to go cheaper. Was considering a Kindle Fire I mostly need/want it for Netflix, HBO GO, Web Surfing, Porn, Books and the occasional Angry Birds.

That Kindle Fire HDX 16g caught my eye, thoughts?

I have a nexus 7 16 GB 2013. The sound quality is fine for me but I am not much of an audio nerd to begin with. I must admit that I am a bit concerned about not having enough room in the future with the OS (Kitkat 4.4) taking 4 GB of space =/. So far with all the apps I have loaded on my 16B nexus I have about 9 GB left. I don't keep my photos nor do I keep video files on there for long so I haven't ran into any space issues. Most of the stuff I do is streaming so disk space is kinda wash anyways. Another thing to consider about the nexus 7 which runs kitkat 4.4 is that it finally did away with support for Flash. There is a hacked version available for the Dolphin browser but it is a bit buggy.

I'd honestly stay away from Kindle as it has no access to the Google app store unless you root your device. Everything has to go through the Amazon app store only.

Get a Nook HD(7") or HD+(9"), it's a lot more versatile with access to both Google app stores and Amazon app stores if you want both. Barnes & Noble had the 32GB 9" Nook HD plus for $149 at Christmas. Hell of a tablet for that price.

Thanks for the advice guys. I was about to go get a nook but my wife looked on her work points rewards and she could get me that Kindle for free. I like free, so the Kindle won. I will have it next week.

It isn't hard to root it and put the Google store on there so it wasn't a bad decision but you really should do that.

Last comparison I read between the newest HDX/Nexus/Ipad Mini had the Kindle pretty clearly ahead on display stuff. The caveat really is always the closed Amazon environment. Luckily the internet makes rooting stupid simple. With video and text guides with links for everything and step by step instructions so easy even I could do it.
