Is that a nexus 10 running ubuntu?
Probably. They've already announced that they will be releasing images for the GNex, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (I believe?) - It would make sense that they include all of the Nexus devices.

So what a decent current tablet right now?

I just want a tablet to surf the internet on the couch while I watch TV or to read books while I'm traveling. Thats about my only 2 requirements. I'm fairly computer literate so I can root it if needed be, etc.

I don't really keep up with the tablet market and really don't want to spend more than $200.

Would you guys have some good suggestions?

I've had a Nexus 7 since they day they release last year, and I still love it. Can't recommend it enough.

Google I/O is March 13th. Pretty good chance of some new nexus stuff being announced then.

EDIT: Woops, it's in May, not March. Registration just opens March 13th.

Picked up a Nexus 10 today and love it. Can anyone recommend an app for Manga?

Got the Nexus 7 today, liking it a lot so far.

What's the best solution for reading torrented books on it? i.e. whats everyone using to strip the DRM and what kind of e-reader?

It can handle 720p x264 just fine. The containers are software dependent. I haven't tried 1080i/p, but not sure why you would bother with those on a Nexus 7.

How is it with watching high def mkv or mp4s?
I downloaded MX Player since the built in player on my Nexus 10 didn't seem able to play pretty much any of my downloaded movies, tv shows or porn. MX Player works with virtually everything, some in hardware mode, some just in software. Seems to work great. On a long flight a couple weeks ago I watched Unforgiven, so around 2 hours long, and with the brightness turned down a bit (lights were off) it only used around 20-30% of the battery if I recall right. So at least on the Nexus 10 you should be able to watch around 6-8 hours of video on a charge.

I have only tested it on low res porn over at xvideos.com and an episode of DS9 on netflix.

Both looked fappable.

As far as the books, I just torrented several thousands of classics in mobi and epub format, tossed them on the tablet and been reading them with Aldiko.

Soooooooooooo goooooooooooooood.

Has anyone heard anything about the Asus Vivo Tab (Full Windows 8)? I was really looking into getting that as a fun tablet/productivity machine for grad school in the fall and I can't find anywhere that agrees on the release date. Or if anyone can suggest another tablet that would do this and not suck. I'm not opposed to getting two separate devices for fun/school but was hoping I could get an all in one.

A lot of the full Windows 8 tablets have some driver issues with the atom processors. That's essentially the only problem I have with my Lenovo tablet2, but it's not insignificant. Random lockups, slow downs, that sort of thing. Supposedly they're working on better drivers but no eta, for mine at least. The higher end, more ultrabook-like tablets with the i3/i5 processors work gorgeously in comparison.

Switched from my ipad2 to an ipad4... you dont notice the difference until you go back to the old display...

As such, I will be waiting for the next gen n7. Hopefully jumping from iOS to Android wont be terribly painful. Most of my daily use stuff is already cross platform...
