It still looks dumb...no one wants to see that.
And even if it is living tissue, that doesn't mean the machines didn't make any mechanism/liquid/whatever from preventing them to age.
This shit with "they age" is just an excuse so arnie can reprise his terminator role over and over again.

It's not really an excuse that they can age when it was discussed in the first movie. It's "living tissue". That's why dogs were important in the future. Only dogs could tell the difference. The T-800s could get past their other methods of detection and had nearly wiped out hidden human colonies.

After seeing the trailer, I think this will be pretty good. No one bitched when Shirley Manson was discovered to be a T-1000 or a very similar model. I think T-One Thousian will be just fine.

Jesus some of you are so over critical of a 90 second trailer lol. Seemed much better than those screens that were posted earlier.

Trailer did it's job...I went from barely any interest at all to I think I might give this a chance.

Reboots etc. all have to play careful cards to the source... I have to say the trailer was well put together, it didn't start with your standard stage of T1 it started with what really was given to us in T1 as a voice over and a stop motion robot crushing a skull (I know, iconic)... it even resisted starting with the iconic music, it used it appropriately later, as well as not just starting with Arnold in our face in the beginning- so in terms of putting the thing together as a trailer is constructed it was imo done well... if they where making SC younger why not just use the actress from SCC? I mean dragon girl is good and all...as dragon girl

yep

Its no excuse by any means, in the first movie, that skin was rotting and they needed to tend arnies wounds in the second film. the deal breaker for me is if this movie is rated PG-13.

"I would love to see it be rated R, but I don't think it will. I think in this day & age, it's much more likely to be PG-13. There were no f-bombs. But there'll be a healthy amount of movie violence."

It's not really a reboot. All of the Terminator movies (with the exception of Salvation? I never saw it so I don't know) deal with time travel and altering the past/future. This is a Terminator movie being a Terminator movie.

with a movie like this I'd rather they try and fail (Predator reboot, Cloud Atlas, 47 Ronin, etc) than stick to some formulaic bullshit that is completely disengaged from the audience (every Michael Bay movie, last Terminator movie, Conan reboot, Total Recall reboot).

So far with the time travel stuff it looks like they are at least trying, won't know if they got a good story or not until its out.

This is going to be god damn great. Total fanservice movie. I put it on the same shelf as shit like the Expendables. Fantastic for what they are.

with exception of the original i have seen every terminator sequel in the theater. i actually had never heard of the terminator until it showed up on cable. this has arnie being arnie and terminators. shut up and take my money!

as to the terminator being a gramps terminator. you guys forget that a t800 or whatever arnie was in the original was an exoskeleton surrounded by living flesh, the living flesh aged, he is still the same uber exoskeleton underneath, but now the flesh is quite old so it appears that he is quite old. thats why gramps terminator can totally take on these fresh terminators, even a new version of himself. cant wait to see this.
That's not how biology works. The skin cells would die off, but because its not connected to any kind of biological system, it wouldn't be able to replace those cells. So, his skin would eventually just rot and fall off. So... Terminator plus walking dead? NEW MOVIE FRANCHISE!!

Never really thought about that, would explain why the CGI Arnold was being kept frozen. Neat.

sure and a t-1000 can not exist in any realistic world. in a movie explanation, arnie's skin not rotting and falling off can be explained as the programming masking as a biological system using electrical pulses to keep the skin cells from dying. also remember t-800 has a life expectancy of like 180 years or something crazy. arnie might have come back a long ass time ago.

I remember the Zucker bros. saying once when they were filming the third Naked Gun (Naked Gun 33 1/3), they originally wanted to call it "Naked Gun 3: Beating a dead horse".

Some how that seems applicable here.

Well, of course. In the real world none of this is possible. I'm just thinking it's more probable that he was sent back as on old terminator, not that he aged

lets say that 1984 is when arnie arrived and instead of being destroyed, he "lived". does that fill in any plotholes?

Oh I dunno, maybe watch the movie and it'll answer those questions? Since you know....those are all heavy plot related questions. You just did the equivalent of .....

"Why is there a talking raccoon, raccoon dont talk, living trees? What hippie bullshit is this, fucking political bullshit is nauseating! How would all of them be so conveniently united?! -insert demands on other key plot devices here without actually watching the movie-

1st movie, was in some extras i think, he had a small pump that sent artificial blood to the cells that slowed the process down. when that stops working, he skin turns a lighter shade and begins to rot and smell.
no idea if they explained his healing in the 2nd one. TSCC believe Cam could use food to replenish her cells, but she was a 9xx series so far more advanced.

This looks like it could be really stupid, mainly because--who has the arc now? What turned Terminator from a stupid, lifeless, action movie, into a decent, well structured, movie was the fact that it had character growth and a definable arc. Sarah Conner went from a weak, down on her luck, "lost" individual into a competent, strong, purposed one. But now we are going to start the movie with Sarah like that. Okay, so who is going to have character growth? Apparently it looks like they are trying to obtusely make Reece the one who needs to be "saved", but that makes 0 sense considering he's a soldier who has literally dealt with Terminators for his whole life; I suppose they could say he's never encounter a T-1000, or whatever, but Sarah wouldn't have either.

In any case, unless there is some spectacular spin on this; I just don't see which character is supposed to grow as a person. The movie could surprise me, but right now this just seems driven by the typical "How can we get X-over -the-hill actor in there and give the film as many nostalgic connections as possible" 80's remake mantra. And that means this is going to be another husk of an action flick where some director decides to put a "clever" twist in the story, which doesn't really make sense except as a method of putting some shitty finger print on it; and then piling on new special effects until it looks "cool".

Granted, the trailer made it LOOK a lot better than the pictures. So there is some hope. But I have a feeling this is going to be just like every other 80's remake given how fucking ham fisted that "what a twist" shot for shot recreation was.

I'm guessing the personal growth will come from Sarah and Kyle not initially getting along. Sarah will think she doesn't need help and be offended at the suggestion (reaffirmed with the fact that it looks like she saves Kyle's ass when they initially meet), while Kyle will think Sarah really doesn't realize what she's up against. As the movie goes along, both will realize the other is partially right (Sarah is stronger than Kyle realizes, but Sarah has never been prepared for a T-1000), which results in them forgiving each other and making John.
