Plenty of people have called out the shady nature of what the GF has done, but I don't think it's all unreasonable for a person to find it

I think it's news now because 1) his team, for the first time in like my entire life, is actually good, 2) His team features two of the biggest, most marketable stars in the entire league, and 3) we have a 10+ minute long audio recording of him being hilariously, cartoonishly racist that anyone can listen to at their leisure. Whereas before it was generally more a matter of he said he said.

I think some of you guys are forgetting how ridiculous these racial shitshows get nowadays. This story is everywhere. Outrage is at maximum levels. I'd be surprised if any other owner backs him at all. Yeah he's been a known racist for 30+ years, but none of his previous incidents have been as widely covered. Not even close. Most of you guys have probably never even touched a basketball, let alone paid attention to the NBA, and yet you've all heard about this story.

Why bother forcing him out when he will be dead soon anyway? Even the lifetime ban seems a little silly since that is probably going to be less than 2 years.
2.5 million dollars is utterly meaningless as well. If I get a $20 parking ticket, I at least lost something because I probably would have spent that 20 on something else. He was never going to spend his last 2.5 million.
The only conclusion I drew from that Magic Johnson tweet was that apparently Magic Johnson is illiterate.
