I don't think I've ever seen this before.

If you want to read the actual report rather than some twitter thing... And yea these are multi-stage rockets, but of the small sort common in warfare back then. It really is a misnomer to compare it to modern multistage rockets. Still cool though. Rockets and various sort of launched grenades have been used for thousands of years in warfare.

That said, there is a drawing of a house upon a rocket. But you do find weird versions of things like this appearing in history, eg water wheels or houses in the sky.

Sadly Starship itself didn't fair quite as well this time...

I love that the state of SpaceX and Starship is that this kind of "failure" is nbd. Compared to previous realities where that was 2 years, billions of dollars and several lives.

If I was those people and didn'tk now about the launch I'd be thinking the ISS just deorbited.

If this was CGI in a Holywood movie the director would ask them to tune down the shinyness because it looks fake

I am more amazed that Hollywood got what a breakup looks like right than anything else. It was like something straight from a movie. The plane views of it all shattering in the sky was top CGI. I'm guessing they knew it would look like this real event though from various shuttle disasters so there is that, still impressive Armageddon level movie shit today. I was told you couldn't have fires in a vaccum but I guess spaceX is Dyson.

In before the Biden administration tells SpaceX it must stop all launches as they walk out the door. For safety.

The reason fire cant burn in space is because fire needs oxygen, so they bring/make their own oxygen to allow the fire to burn (usually out the exhaust); hence why he said oxygen and fuel leak.

Some Asteroid Bennu papers are live.

"The OSIRIS REx team discovered that Bennu contains many precursor building blocks of life, along with the evidence that it comes from an ancient wet world and contains materials that point to Bennu having traveled from the coldest regions of the solar system that are likely beyond Saturn's orbit."
