The hardest thing for life to overcome on europa would be the extreme amount of radiation from the nearby planet. Radiation at that level interferes heavily with the inner workings of cells, especially DNA.
This is probably true, but I still think that we are a bit too geo-centric when it comes to extraterrestrial life. We may well find that life, in some form or another, does exist in such harsh places and has found a hardier substitute for DNA. At least, it would be pretty fucking amazing if it did.
