Meh, I like Mass Effect oustide of the ending. Found a mod that completely alters the ending, so with this run (only my second run) I'm going to use that instead. But yes, I do hang my head in shame for never finishing FF6. Hell I own the cart. I'll make up for this FF8 disagreement by beating FF6.
Do yourself a favor and emulate the Advance remake, it's a better game.

Wanted to try and find something on iOS to play... just Tactics/I/II/III available. Was hoping for one of the later games.

Did anyone else make Tera go beast mode and equip her with Atma weapon + whatever relics made her attack 8 times (I think it was a combination of Genji Glove, and Offering?

All you saw was

*slash* 9999,

Also...did anyone else hear the rumor back in the day that if you went to the dinosaur forest and killed some mob 4000 times or something, that you would be able to play as General Leo? I think I attempted to do this, but of course never had the drive to do it 4000 times. Maybe one of you actually tried it.

And last...best character ever:

Probably my favorite game of all time. Loved shadow, loved when his dog would come out of nowhere and fuck shit up.

I don't think I set Tera up for beast mode, I actually did that on Locke and turned him into a beast. I had a weird party at the end. Locke, Sabin, Umaro (?), and that guy that mimicked shit. I just had Locke attack 380 times per turn, Umaro do whatever he wanted, Sabin bum rush, and the other guy mimic the bum rush. Killed everything in like one turn.

At the end of FFXIII-2 right now. God this story is terrible. My fiance was watching me play it and she went "what the fuck is this?" That's how I feel too. At first I thought it would be cool to keep playing after I beat it to get all the fragments and rare monsters and stuff, but fuck that. It's going back into it's collector's edition case and never being opened again. I guess it's cool if you loved it Sean, but at the end of the game I just can't go on anymore.

I loved it for the gameplay. The gameplayisgreat. The story is pretty much "whatever" and not really any worse than any other Final Fantasy or RPG.

Locke was the one who could bust the 8 quad 9s, Atma Weapon + Valiant Knife w/Genji Glove and Master's Scroll(Offering). Pretty sure the damage penalty from the Master's Scroll would prevent even someone with Max strength from ripping quad 9s with Ragnarok/Illumina, so a high level Terra/Edgar/Celes could be ripping quad 9s in the atma hand and still probably 5-6k with the Illumina hand.

I've killed thousands and thousands and thousands of dinosaurs in the dinosaur forest, because it's the best XP in the world of ruin. You definitely don't get General Leo.

Shadow was tight in the WoB but he sucked ass in the WoR.

I'm thinking about trying it. The first one left me cold and I didn't even bother to finish it. Should I read up on how it ends to understand the second one?

Ive played through 3, 7, 8, 9, 10

Pretty sure im about to hit this up:http://coolrom.com/roms/gba/14972/Fi..._6_Advance.php

I tried to get into 10-2, the combat and gameplay was fun but I just couldnt get into it due to the charlies angels bullshit. Played 12 for maybe 10 hours before I dropped it. It felt like an offline MMO or something, didnt care too much for it

I really like 7-9 about equally, and have different complaints about each game.

How long did you play 10-2 for? They go a LOT lighter on the j-pop charlies angles shit once you get a bit into it and it does have some of the best/most fun, if not the best/most fun, combat+job system of any Final Fantasy game.

I'll never understand people's love for 12's absurdly boring and slow combat. Least favorite FF gameplay-wise by far. Do they change it in IZJS at all or just character progression there?

I loved FF12 combat. I enjoyed grinding. Grinding felt like grinding and I grinded the fuck out of all FF games. I literally went into different zones, only to come back to get some of that chain and maxed it to 100+. What I loved about FF12 is that the world was fucking awesome. I remember walking into some random dungeon, getting pushed by monsters, cornered into a sandy room where I got fucked by a wild esper. The shit was gold. I spent like 200 hours into this game.

I think I enjoyed FF13 for 20 hours, then I couldn't give a fuck anymore. The linearity of exploration was my biggest concern. Its good to have a fast combat, but it gets tedious after a while. Thinking about little details in every fight got old quickly.

i really don't give a shit about new battle system. RPG has always been an experience for me--experience in a fantasy world, where I could immerse myself and enjoy the fuck out of the story/adventure. i felt like Ff12 was trying to be faithful to the old RPG genre, while trying to reinvent the interface and battle system. Still, one of better RPG as of late for me.

Hmmm...I played it when it first came out so its been awhile, but I'd guess like 8 hours? I do remember the job system being awesome though. The dialogue and chick crap was just too much for me.

The thing about ff12 that got to me was the automated combat. I remember setting up my guys, and literally setting down the controller and winning battles. That got to me. I felt like the game played itself

The game plays for itself for the normal mobs (which I think is a wise decision), but if you start killing quest mobs, I remember dying to white chocobo several times before finally succeeding. worst part of it was that there wasn't any bulletproof strategy to kill it. had to play with gambit for awhile before I found a right combo.

As opposed to the extremely intricate trash mob combat in most FF: A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A *victory music*

IV is out for iOS. It's pretty good. I figured they'd butcher it... not so much, it seems.

Depending on your level, this was pretty much true for everything except the harder quest mobs, especially Yiazmat. Oh god, how I hated that fight.
