Season was decent. The Faks are entering Jar Jar territory as far as comedic relief. The story didn't really move forward much.

Yea, the Fak brothers are a bit annoying and hard to imagine any $150+/plate restaurant would allow either of them to be front of the house.

There were a few episodes that seemed to drag on, but for the most part I also liked the change of pace in this season. There is only so much they can do with "the restaurant is on the edge of bankruptcy and going to close at any minute," before it gets old. Unfortunately, it looks like that's back where the show is headed next season.

I'm not sure where else they can bring in strife or adversity to make for an interesting show, but it would be nice if they could switch gears.

Thought the score in ep1 sounded a lot like something Reznor or Ross would put out, turns out it was NIN after all.

lol, figured he was just some standup comic or something I’d never heard of… not a producer and chef consultant.

look at the size of him, how can he not be a chef? Plus he has that Brooklyn Hipster aesthetic. Literally the third result for "Brooklyn hipster chef"

This season had good points, but I can say it's a good season. It felt like a slog to get through. Sydney is just such a weak character for someone so centrai to the story. Not because she is black, but because she acts for shit. I can see some of these people being who they are in a restaurant. I can never picture Sydney being who she is in a restaurant. Richie and Cham are brilliant at times playing off each other. And then there's Sydney.

Sydney can barely use a knife. Awful actress, some of the worst casting I've ever seen

She's black. Only thing that matters.

The weird thing is they are the whitest black family ever cast. Her and her father are not diversity characters, at all. Actually, maybe that's why they cast her. "Can you speak like a normal human being? You're hired!!!"

This show does that very well. Lots of different types of characters all struggling and trying to just work hard to make life better. No "Well I have it worse because..."

She always does that shocked "well okay" look whenever literally anyone does something that's not her way. She's fucking obnoxious.

We've only made it through two episodes of this season because they're just not particularly good. It's like they really leaned into the "let's make these people unlikable and yelling all the time" and forgot to make it interesting.

The sad part is shes a very accurate portrayal of a lot of millennial women these days. Ive worked with so many of them who are just like her. Talk down to everyone and then report anyone for swearing around them.

finally finished season 3, what a very odd season. Had to take long breaks between each episode because I just didn't like so many of them. After the massive momentum and driven focus of season 1 & 2 it was so weird to see the show becoming artsy fartsy and disconnected from any real story.

Still, episodes 1 & 2 were amazing and the finale... Jesus Christ, what a season finale, one of my favorite hours of television again. Motherfucking THOMAS KELLER taught Carmy early in his career and we see it? Goddamn. Some great chefs at those tables and great intimate chats. I like that there isn't any handholding, we know Carmy is super fucked up and rethinking his life but I have no idea what he will do. I can't even tell what the review was, mostly positive I guess with some negatives?

Hope they refocus the show on Carm, Richie, and Marcus (especially Richie) because they really are the core thats the most interesting to follow. I like most of the side characters but they work best as mirrors to show how Carm changes their lives, entire episodes devoted to Tina or Sugar were just a bad idea.

Anyways season 4 was filmed back to back to season 3 so its probably wrapped filming by now, wonder if they will end it there or try to do a season 5

I feel much the same way. I really struggled finding the interest to finish this season. It was probably almost three months from start to finish. It really felt like it was trying too hard and smelling its own farts. The story itself didn't really move much nor did the characters progress much.

I actually didn't mind the Faks as much as some did but I didn't like the single character focus for so many episodes. They really need to do something to make Sydney more interesting because she's exactly one note all the time. Richie was always worth watching, though. Good interaction with McHale in the final episode. I was waiting for that confrontation and enjoyed how much he just crushed Carmy even more by his response.

I wish they would give Sydney her own spin-off show so she would leave this one and I could never watch her show.

We watched the first two episodes of this season back in July, apparently (based on this thread). Haven't found the motivation to watch another episode since.
