Anyone want to meet up at Oktoberfest at or near the weekend of the 25th/26th? I'm thinking of going since I'm in the area and would be happy to down some beers with non-retards.

Even if you don't have anyone to go with, just go anyways and make friends. I was there for a couple days a few years ago and it's just a plain awesome time, and everyone is super friendly.

Ohh I AM going, was just curious if anyone in the area wanted to meet up.

Is anyone familiar with New Belgium's Snapshot? I would almost swear they've changed it. I bought some yesterday and I don't remember it being anywhere near as tart when I tried it last summer.

Wheat beers aren't a thing I drink unless it's Franziskaner or Weihenstephaner.

As you guys know from my previous posts that I apparently like lemon pledge flavored beers, but I tell you my friends the new Leinenkugel Harvest Patch Sandy is some top tier shit.

Please ignore if you're not doing shots of pledge on the weekends, Pussies.

Those two are among my very favorite wheats. The Snapshot that I remember was ok. I was grabbing something from the closest grocery store to me and the selection was meh.

But now, it tastes like it's got some berliner weisse influence going on. Very close to Bell's Oarsman Ale.

I hadn't tried it until the Tour de Fat, and it was just tart enough that I enjoyed it but not enough where I couldn't recommend it to others.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to go get some of it... now if I can just find it in cans.

Found Pseudo Sue in the MPLS area and holy fuck is it good, as in the best American pale ale I've ever had. I've been spacing it in between Calm Before the Storm (Ballast Point Vanilla Coffee Cream Ale), Grapefruit Sculpin, and Founders' Breakfast Stout (and Surlyfest and Summit Oktoberfest).

Really cool (but long) article that gives a ton more backstory on Elysian and their eventual sale to InBev. Buried in there are some telling quotes by Matt Lincecum from Fremont Brewing that outline one of the reasons these acquisitions are bad for craft beer, and why I go out of my way to avoid purchasing any of these InBev owned craft brands:http://www.seattlemet.com/articles/2...er-is-immortal

"...independent breweries are forever fighting Big Beer's considerable lobbying and distribution clout: "To this day they actively try to kill our industry..."

...a local operation with access to AB's capital disrupts the brewing ecosystem. Fremont has one of the largest barrel-aging programs in the Northwest, he says, and now Goose Island has the financial firepower to buy up every barrel in sight, making it hard for his guys to find any. He fears Elysian will do the same thing with hops.

Stopped into one of the local Lowe's Foods today that I don't normally go to and they've expanded their beer section to boast a killer selection (for here). I picked up a bottle of Rodenbach's on a lark. Have any of our sour heads tried it before?

I have not tried that one. But the Rodenbach Grand Cru is quite good.

Pumpkin all the things!

It's not overpowering like most pumpkin things, like all cider, I can handle one of them then over it.

I pulled the cork on the Rodenbach over the weekend and it was top notch. Not so overly sour that it overpowered the other flavors. Very prominent dried cherries flavor. Couldn't really taste any raspberries or cranberries which was actually fine by me. Picked up another bottle today for the repeat.

I saw the coffee version of the ImpStout and almost bought it... Also that Saison Bret is one of the best beers I've ever had (previous years), I hope this year is similar.

I somehow missed the 2014...even though the 2015 actually came out in late 2014, it's been sitting in my basement for close to a year now

Damn, I am drinking the cherry stout right now and rye on rye is in the fridge. I didn't see the green label imperial stout in the store, did that not make it back this year?

I'm drinking some canned Guinness Draught that my mom's husband left in our fridge about 2.5 years ago. So if I don't make it, guess these are my last words.
