I've heard Russian River's food is shitty. But the guy said he went to their brewpub in Napa, so I have no idea. I've never actually been to the west cost breweries, I just know that if I went, I would hit those up. Bear Republic because their beer is awesome, Anchor because they reinvigorate the American craft beer movement (and I've heard the brewery, tap room, etc, are all awesome).
Yeah, RR mainly does pizza and I wasn't very impressed with it, although I will readily admit I am a pizza snob. Their beer more than makes up for it.

I really liked the savage wings from Russian River. The pizzas are pretty good.

Monk's Kettle is probably my favorite beer drinking spot in the city. The food is quality and it's a classy place. Very knowledgeable staff. They seriously know every beer on the menu. La Trappe also has an amazing beer menu but I've never had the food. I'm sure it's good. I think La Trappe is Italian while Monk's Kettle is more hipstered bar fare. Monk's Kettle gets crowded early. Be prepared for a wait for a table if you show up after 6:00. Guess you'll just have to get a beer while you wait. Gestalt next door is a great spot to grab a beer while you wait if the Monk's Kettle bar is too crowded.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I was really impressed by Mikkeller Bar. Only went there once last week but I would definitely go back. They make some of their own stuff and I liked every one I tried.

So I will be in the Bay Area next week. Other than Russian River, any recommendations for beer hot-spots to check out? I'll probably be staying in Petaluma but will have a car and will spend at least one day in the city.

Already did Moylan's and Lagunitas last time I was in the area so I don't need to hit up either of those again...
Bear Republic for sure if you have the time to head north. The obvious Russian River and BLAH?! Not hit Lagunitas again; how dare you good sir.

Berlinerweisse, Flander's Red, and Oud Bruin are my favorite sour types. Monk's Cafe is right up there for me (and I think that rating is way way to low).

There's a brewery here in Austin called Jester King that is actively "bringing back" the farmhouse style sour. I've tried most of their line, but the taste isn't that appealing to me. But I love IPA so its weird.

Yeah, rating is low, that was just the first site I googled when looking up the stuff.

TIME TO CELEBRATE!!

My favorite beer in the history of beer is back in stores as of today after a 3 year absence. If you live anywhere where you have access to Boulevard products(mostly the Midwest), look for this, you won't be disappointed:
Boulevard Two Jokers Double-Wit

Here's a review of its last release in 2011:

No slight on Lagunitas, just trying to hit new places I haven't been this time around, plus Lagunitas is pretty widely available where I live. Making an exception for Russian River because, well it's Russian River.

If you ever find yourself in Philadelphia, Monk's Cafe itself is definitely worth checking out (the namesake the beer was brewed for). They normally have it on tap, and it's definitely a go-to for me whenever I stop in.

Really? There were quite a few beers on tap at Lagunitas that wasn't in distribution yet.

Someone brought a home brewed Old Bay beer to a 4th of July bbq. It was really tasty.

Picked up a growler of the Prairie Gold Mosaic sour and a growler of the Prairie Bomb on the way home today. I think the Gold Mosaic may be my first experience with Sours and I really like the first glass. Will see how it sits.

Bought a four pack of 16 oz nitro cans of Old Chub scotch ale because the combo sounded interesting to me. Very bad call. The only redeeming quality is a high ABV, which is why I'm choking it down during the Netherlands v Argentina game

Edit: nevermind, I can't even open another one. Guess this will sit in the fridge for some poor soul who visits and doesn't know any better.

That rating for Monk's Cafe is very low indeed. It reminds me almost of a slightly tart grape soda. I typically have a bomber of Monk's Cafe always on hand, such a great go-to Sour

I think i've realized i'm allergic to some specific types of beers but i'm entirely unsure of what ingredient it is.
Naturally i'm allergic to milk, so when i eat chocolate the sides of my head get itchy as fuck and my throat gets tight

Same feeling happened when i drank a delirium tremens lol

Several members of my family are badly allergic to Budweiser products. If they drink bud or bud light they break out in hives/rashes. No other beer does this. Not sure what Budweiser does differently than every other beer brewer on Earth.

Other than your allergic reaction! how did you like the Tremens? I have had Delirium Nocturnum and liked it, but nothing else from them.
