So my local Costco has started selling 22oz bombers of beer. Most noteworthy was the 4 pack of Stone beers which included IPA, Ruination, RuinTen and Subliminally Self-Righteous. All 4 for $14.99 which is less than half the price than if I bought them individually at the grocery store or my local bottle shop. Was also my first time having RuinTen which was delicious. Just as hoppy as Enjoy By but with a much bolder malt backbone.

That's a ridiculously good deal. Too bad costco doesn't exist in these parts

Drove with the family from the Oregon coast to San Fran last Wednesday and wound up stopping in Eureka, CA, for lunch. The best option appeared to be Lost Coast brewpub, and it was a treat. Tried the IPA and oatmeal stout, and both were great. The food, however, was exceptional. Will definitely be keeping an eye out to see if any if their stuff makes it to the east coast.

North Coast's red ale (Red Seal I think?) and Brother Thelonius are really good. Must try beers.

Sam's Oktoberfest arrived in the local store today! I'm in Heaven!
Last time I had Oktoberfest it is clear they either cheaped out on ingredients or just watered the beer down because it was much, much better 4+ years ago.

What about the last movie you saw that was based on a book. Was the book much, much better?

So I'm losing some weight after a great vacation. I never realized just how many caloriesgoodbeer has. I'm stuck to drinking light shit for a couple months. Any recommendations on a good, light beer? Low calorie and good beer are not really compatible.

The Most Comprehensive Guide to Beer Calories and ABV

sort by calories, try to find something you like near the top of the list(good luck)

Basically, all of the really good beer has a LOT of calories

About the only thing I regularly drink that is well under 150 calories per bottle is Guinness. It's surprisingly lowcal. Only 125 calories, same as many light beers, and less than regular Bud,Miller,Coors, etc.

Newcastle isn't terrible for you either, and I like it quite a bit, only 150 calories. But most micro-brews are like 200+

I attended a labor day BBQ on sat and brought some cans of Ballast Point Sculpin.

Long story short I deposited them in a cooler and a couple hours later when we started drinking I grabbed one.

ICE cold... and fucking disgusting.

Why does ultra low temperature IPA taste like shit? I swear I couldn't taste anything that remotely resembled Sculpin or IPA in general.

I really prefer my beer like slightly below room temperature.

Went on a bender last night with about 6 other people... 25 different berlinerweisses. My mouth (and asshole) are still puckered. It was good, but god damn.

I think I'm Berlinered out.

Interesting, I had a sculpin on draft last night. It was the first time I had ever had it and it was delicious.

I have Sculpin on draft on the reg. So often that I will opt for other beers typically. West coast is the best for beer.

Sculpin and disgusting don't belong in the same post. Ballast Point is extremely consistent regardless of can/bottle/keg, maybe you just drank it too cold. I've never had a Sculpin that didn't taste like it should, but then again I do have home field advantage.

I just went on a small holiday to San Francisco/Santa Cruz area where I used to live. This place opened up and I was quite pleased with it.

Very small operation. They do not distribute even to the local area. Superb locale. But I'm a fan of HWY1 and this particular stretch as I lived here for some time and grew up on the Oregon Coast. I love this place. The 1PA is fantastic and their French Mexican War Saison won the CA State Gold Medal this year. If you're in the area, seriously go there. You will not be disappointed.
