I put lime in my pabst during the summer time when I'm feeling it. Its surprisingly not bad.
I agree with throwing a lime in a beer to make it taste better. Making lime flavored beer during the brewing process goes hand and hand with making Pumpkin Peach Ale. The commercial makes them hypocrites.

The commercial doesn't make them hypocrites. They have thousands of different kinds of beer. They are advertising for that one specific beer in that commercial, bud heavy, and they are tailoring that ad to the people who drink that beer. It's very simple and very effective.

They sell the everliving crap out of that beer during the summer, as they do with their god-awful Lime-a-Rita line. Apparently women only drink shit beer during the warmer months. Also explains why Leinenkugel's sells so much Summer Shandy.
I will drink the shit out of some Summer Shandy on a hot summer day. While it's far from being a great beer, it's in another league compared to bud light lime, or Ultra 64, or whatever typical light beer people drink during the summer when outside in the heat.

Just make your own with whatever light ale or lager you want. Half beer, half lemonade.

SF Beer Week is in full swing. I went to a PacNW brewery event on Sunday. It was mostly Cascade sours and stouts/porters from other breweries. I tried Deschutes Abyss and the tripel abbey from a brewery called Logsdon. I mainly stuck to the Cascade sours though. $10-$12 per four ounce pour...

I'm gonna go out tonight as well. Torn between a Stillwater Artisanal tap takeover (never heard of this brewery) or an Alesmith event. Never had Alesmith beyond their ESB but I've heard they are spectacular.

$10-$12 for a 4 oz pour? Damn that is almost how much I'm paying for 750ml bottles of the normal Cascade stuff...

SFBW does sound awesome. I might have to pencil that in on my calendar for next year. I've never had Stillwater Artisanal but Alesmith does make its way up here and I've been very impressed so far.

Clown Shoes The Peace That Money Can't Buy is winning Beer Week so far. That is a really good quad.

It angers me that I am a quick 25 minute drive into the city and I very well could miss all the festivities this year. Need to take care of the home life though!

Had a few stouts & porters last night....
Shake by Boulder was great, so was Victory at Sea by Ballast Point. Entire list was:
Portage Porter by New Belgium
Special Double Cream Stout by Bell's
Bully! Porter by Boulevard
Foundation Stout by Badger Hill (local)
Shake Chocolate Porter by Boulder
Tres Blueberry Stout by Dark Horse
Victory at Sea by Ballast Point
Chocolate Sombrero by Clown Shoes

Bully! was just not my cup of tea, the local option was great and fresh, Portage was better than I expected (and I'm not sure why I didn't expect it to be great), and Chocolate Sombrero was good to try and done well, but not my type of beer.

It did make me want to try the Habanero Scuplin.

I'm not much of a stout/porter fan, but that is a pretty killer brewery lineup.

Wife and I had a group dinner with another couple and our kids. We split a bottle of '14 Darkness, '14 Pentagram, '13 [Indeed] Haywire and a `14 [Indeed] Mexican Honey. Was a great night for drinkings.

So I had some of the new Costco Light Beer and if you want an example of what I mean when I say that it is actually kind of hard to make an American Light Lager then try the Costco beer. The carbonation is more like seltzer-water than it is beer, there is a cloying sweetness to it that gets more offensive with every sip and I am picking up hints of diacetyl (butterscotch flavor, oil-slickness on the tongue) as well. Overall I have the impression that the production of this beer was rushed which just isn't something you can do with an American Light Lager. I believe Costco is contracting out several breweries to produce this beer and the batch I got happened to be produced by Regal Brau Brewing out of WI. I know nothing about them other than they brewed this Costco beer.

I've had a wide variety of beer drinkers taste it and it pretty much has been universally panned, but it is worth noting that there was a contingent there who said they might buy it anyways just due to the price. On a side note, if you goal is just easy drinking alcohol than Natty Ice is still your best ABV value for a lighter beer. Not that I would advocate buying an AB/InBev product, but there's the info for those who might find it useful.
