Xbox One can use 8 controllers synced to the same console at once.

Here's where I post the link and then PS4ggots just post about all the hardware shit on this page most people don't care about over and over and over and over again.
Did you really say that most people don't care about the hardware and then talk about using 8 controllers synced to one console? Do you really think more people care about using fucking 8 controllers than the actual power of the machine?

The problem is that the only positives about the Xbox are weird shit like that. I WOULD LOVE a reason to bag on Sean for being a PS4 fanboi, believe me. If you want to post positives of the Xbox, go right the fuck ahead and give us a reason to like it. Just don't say in the same post that 8 controllers is a positive for the xbox and then say no one should care that the PS4 has completely superior hardware. It doesn't stand up to any sort of scrutiny.

Split screen with two people is shitty enough. 8 is fucking pointless without a 80 inch HDTV I mean really dude.

If the Xbox had any positives, we would be praising them. This is how badly Microsoft fucked up this generation. Stupid and evil. That's what they are.

The 8 player stuff is, as far as I know, primarily for Sports games and such that use a single screen for all players.

Xbox One voice detection requires some repetition:Xbox, can you hear me now? Xbox One voice detection requires some repetition - The Washington Post

During a private 45-minute presentation showcasing the console's media and entertainment capabilities, about 10 of 45 voice commands issued had to be repeated by a Microsoft spokesman - some as many as four times. Kinect didn't immediately detect such orders as "Xbox, watch ESPN" and "Xbox, Bing movies with Sandra Bullock" during the demo.

"Everything you're seeing here is going to get better," promised Jose Pinero, senior director of marketing and public relations for Xbox, at the conclusion of Wednesday's demo. "Right now, we're still a couple of weeks away but voice, the more you use it and the more the system learns, the more accurate it becomes. We're still working on fit and finish."

I'm so meh on sports games I can't even describe it, but sounds like the perfect fit for the bro crowd audience that has always favored xbox for some reason.

Are there any games that can reasonably be played by 8 people on one TV?
Other than party games, soccer or basketball games should work ok with 8 players.

I had a PC-Engine aka Turbo Grafx 16 and it had a device to plug 5 controllers. I remember playing 5 people Bomberman, 4 people Final Match Tennis and 5 peopleLegend of Dekoboko(a silly top view racing game with tiny cars that could jump). There were also such devices (for 4 controllers though) for the SNES (Bomberman again) and the PS1 (Micromachine). I am pretty sure there were 8 players game on SNES/PlayStation, but I could not name a title. Pretty sure there also was a version of Bomberman for more than 5 players, but I am not sure if it was because of online.... EDIT: 10 players Bomberman was on Saturn with two multi-taps (now that's a word we don't use too often these days! Like parallax scrolling).

Some updates on the Xbone Ban situation:So Target shipped someone an Xbox One already? [Update: console-banned until launch] - NeoGAF

Update 3: A Microsoft spokesperson tells Engadget that the Xbox One consoles some consumers received by accident well ahead of launch on November 22nd cannot access Xbox Live until closer to launch. The statement says: "Due to a retail partner's system issue, a very small number of Xbox One consoles were shipped to consumers before the November 22 street date. We're pleased to see the initial response to Xbox One has been so positive, but given we are still putting the finishing touches on our games, UI and online services, as well as confidential partner and media agreements, these consoles units will be restricted from connecting to Xbox Live until closer to our launch date."

It's good that they're getting this resolved, but Microsoft PR should have handled this better than DMCAing his Youtube account and banning his Xbone without saying anything until now.

I'm excited to see what kind of shit people can do with the new kinect. The current kinect has done wonders for lowering the entry price on sensors for the vision and robotics community. If the kinect II is a step ahead of that it could mean big things.

But yeah, I couldn't give a shit about using my body as a controller for games.

Good to hear that guy's xbox account wasn't banned. You really couldn't pick a better way of making people fear always on DRM policies than quickly banning people for innocent shit.

To me the most useful part of the kinect is voice recognition. Which can be done with a decent mic and some software.

Ok here's the forum contest rules.

There's two contests. Each one is to guess the total North American sales for both Xbox One and PS4. The first contest runs until March 31st 2014. The second contest runs until March 31st 2015.

A reasonably formatted entry for the contest would be:

PS4 NA Sales by March 31st 2014: 1 million
Xbox NA Sales by March 31st 2014: 500,000
PS4 NA Sales by March 31st 2015: 5 million
Xbox NA Sales by March 31st 2015: 4 million

Deadline for entry is midnight Nov 15th (PS4's release).

Winner will be determined by total difference between their guess and the results. If any disagreement occurs between who wins an anonymous vote will be had.

The winner will receive a COLORED TITLE!

The Kinect 2 will probably mean far more for that kind of stuff and experimental work done on the PC than it will for Xbone games, unfortunately.

No matter how much they refine the sensor that kind of device just doesn't offer much from a gameplay perspective. The only "good" use of it is Headtracking while playing Racing and Flying games with a controller/wheel/stick. Shaking your body all around will never be cool or interesting. There's also potential good use of the Microphone for voice commands in games, but you don't need the Kinect for that. The PS4 can do voice commands for games and system stuff just by using its headset and you don't even need the PSEye take advantage of it.

No clue historic numbers to compare but will go with the in the dark guesses of:

PS4 : 1.6m units worldwide
X1: 1.1m units worldwide

For 2014

3m each for 2015. (Yes, I expect the early lead for PS4 to erode, even though its my preference - lots of methods how possible though)

March 2014 - 8.5 million combined.
March 2015 - 20 million combined.

Totally botched my guess due to Tuco's original poorly worded post and I guessed Worldwide there. Will have to rethink for NA only.

Some numbers - the X360 and PS3 both have 80 million units sold. The X360 has been out for 8 years, averaging out to 10 million/year. The PS3 has been out for 7 years and averages out to 11.4/year.

Sony expects to sell 5 million PS4s by the end of March.

15 million for 2015
March 2014 - 8.5 million combined.
March 2015 - 20 million combined.
I knew I'd cock up the wording of the contest the first time

Here's the kind of entry I'm looking for. Separate entries for each console for each year (so 4 total).

PS4 NA Sales by March 31st 2014: 1 million
Xbox NA Sales by March 31st 2014: 500,000

Xbox NA Sales by March 31st 2015: 4 million

They did and it didn't. That whole thing is confusing but covered many pages back now all you need to know is don't worry about it.
