A 7.0 is fine for a shooter. Call of Duty got basically the same score in a lot of places. Knack was never expected by anyone to be anything above mediocre at best. I feel like a record repeating this over and over. No one "bought" knack because they expected it to be the next Grand Theft Auto. There weren't a lot of choices for non sporting gamers in the buy 2 get 1 deals. Knack is fine for free.
I never expect launch titles to be above shit. I've been doing this for a long time now and I've yet to see launch titles be worth snuff. PS2 and PS3 and the Xbox all had shitty launch titles (no, I never cared about Halo and still don't. Its probably my least favorite shooter of them all actually)
The system is a long term investment over several years. Its not worth buying right out of the gate unless you are an enthusiast. It never is. There's nothing to regret because most of us buying in are going to buy a ps4 or an xbone no matter what. Its happening so might as well happen now.
My Wii U sat on my table unplayed for a solid 6 months before I had ANYTHING but Monster Hunter on it. My ps3 was used to play Persona 3 and 4 and metal gear solid 2 and 3 and GTA San Andreas over and over during the first year, year and a half I had it.
This is nothing new to enthusiasts. Launch is just an excuse to buy something you're going to buy anyway. I had zero expectations out of ANY of the launch titles because I didn't think Killzone 2 was all that impressive, didn't expect knack to be anything except maybe a glorified tech demo that might appeal to kids and had no intent to buy AC4 in the first place and have already gotten my monies' worth out of it and it has exceeded all expectations.
I'm just completely don't give a shit whether these first titles out the door are any good or not mode. Never did. Its irrelevant. They're just an excuse to plug the thing up. I preordered the console without preordering ANY games for it and its only been in the past 2 weeks with the buy 2 get 1 free deals that I've even given a shit enough to actually buy any games for the thing. My original plan was to buy it, and then probably not even plug it up till the semester was over.
