Don't get me wrong, I love my PS4 and think Sony is doing a great job but Sony isn't some podunk MMO. There has to be a way to rent servers from Amazon or something to be prepared for the initial clusterfuck. We seem to keep going through thisshit with new MMO launches and the like and I'm just wondering why a solution that isn't expensive hasn't been found yet.

Basically Sony isn't in the best financial state even with the success of this launch, so cutting costs as much as possible to maximize profits from this launch is probably driving a lot of their mindset on things like not renting a bunch of extra hardware from Amazon for a time. All those PSN cards are paid for and can be redeemed at any time, its not a big hurry to redeem them immediately, so Sony turning off that flood while they get past the initial EU launch makes sense from that perspective.
I don't disagree with your primary premise though, that they need to significantly improve their online component and support. Shit is just not able to meet demands.

Yeah, the PSN issues is pretty lame, but as mentioned, it will be short-lived and fine in no time.
As far as this board becoming a Sony circle-jerk, it's not just around here. The general sentiment and interest in the PS4 is significantly higher than the Xbox. On Reddit, the PS4 sub-reddit has twice as many subscribers as the Xbone one. Retailers have said again and again, the pre-order ratio was sometimes 5:1 in favor of the PS4. Every poll we've done is around that ratio. It's really not fanboy/circle-jerking. It's just people find the PS4 better or more interesting for whatever reasons. We're only a few weeks into this gen. There's plenty of time left for us to turn on Sony again.

But yeah, pretty much everywhere you go the PS4 has the advantage and usually by quite a lot. And for pretty damned good reason.

Its insane how many thousands of years of PS+ have been bought yesterday, I wonder how much free money Sony got from giving out a $20 discount on something that costs them almost nothing. If Microsoft was smart they would announce monday that XBL is dropping to $30/year permanently, but of course they are way too bureaucratic to move that fast now.

No announcement for it yet. Also, I suggest picking up the OLED Vita, you're getting a screen downgrade with the new LCD one.
It may sound weird, but the MicroUSB charger is a major seller for me. Can't tell you how many times I've lost proprietary chargers and been SOL.

Voice recognition is way, way, way faster. I hardly ever use the controller for multi-tasking, tbh.
I actually normally don't buy anything. This time I bought the $30 year of PS+ and Shin Megami Tensei IV for $30 too.
